how so? its a top 13 protected pick lmao and the rangers are starting to come back in the second half of the season......now that they added miller they could pull into like third in the metro. this draft is supposed to be extremely weak outside of the top 5 players......it was reported near the end of the season. The trade vancouver got in return is extremely underwhelming. since that pick is top 13 protected......you might get like 50 point player for it. The rangers hands down won this trade without a doubt though.

As a Rangers fan, if the locker room was just not working for whatever reasons and this stabilizes things then it’s a good deal. Chytil has excellent speed and talent with the puck so he can be a 2nd line Center. But he has concussion issues that scare me while watching him. And for his talent and high danger attempts, he hasn’t produced points to that level. He’s got a good attitude and renewed sense of love for the game. So I think he is immune to a toxic locker room. Dude is so grateful to play hockey after he lost most of last season due to a concussion and setback. Mancini has potential as a bigger Dman. Made mistakes but he popped off at the start of the year so he’s ahead of schedule. Ideal 3rd Line D that is reliable and can kill PKs.

35 year NYR FAN HERE... If Chytil stays healthy is REALLY good! Been playing since his 18 yr old season - a lot of experience, but still young. We love him and will miss him dearly. Mancini looked unbelievable for the start of the season but needed some more AHL time. He projects as a #3 or #4 Dman - True Two-way Player, super skating skills, exits zone well, top end offensive capabilities and plays with an edge.

Mancini is a top 6 caliber defenseman today. He’s really solid. Could even get better. Chytil is a great player. Fast as hell, great hands, exciting player, solid playmaker. Incredibly positive and humble. Genuinely good dude. Wants to be great. Is the last guy to leave the ice at practice. I will miss him immensely. If he stays healthy, Canucks fans will be very happy.

A lot of people here forgetting there's no salary retained, we get back a younger player with offensive upside and COULD potentially play second line centre, AND the D man + conditional first. It's acceptable to decent return for an aging player (yes 100 points sure, last season and potentially for a couple more years) who no longer wishes to stay. The salary we save could get us the Miller replacement after the trade deadline or in the off season Best wishes to Miller and he's still one of my favourite players. But we did not lose this trade and neither did the Rangers.
