The movie screwed that part up. In the book (FREED: As told by Christian) he doesn't seek her out, he was wandering the street lost in his thoughts ends up his therapists office but it's late and he's not there so Christian walks some more and ends up outside the salon as Elena is locking up, he refuses to go in but his thoughts aren't in a good place and he agrees to go to a bar. He never tells her details or talks about Ana other than she wants children and defends Ana when Elena disparages her, he shuts her down on everything but business and ends it with a final goodbye. I'm not condoning him talking to Elena at all, but I understand it. Elena knew what she was doing when she sent that text and Ana plays right in to it. That morning after is the one of only two parts Ana annoys the hell out of me refusing to let him explain anything when she was constantly preaching about communication. Everything she accuses him of is false (other than leaving in the first place) and says more about her insecurities than anything.
