“It’s illegal to visit your mother-in-law” that one got me! Takes a comedian to really shine some light on the truth. Really good song!

Lyrics: Nights full of nothing, and empty weekends No pressure to see any family or friends Food gets delivered and left at your door It’s illegal to visit your mother in law We had it so good, but we flattened the curve Now we’re getting the punishment that we deserve So goodbye my lockdown, thanks for your time The all-day pyjamas, the afternoon wine It took a pandemic to finally see That the life of a hermit, that’s the life for me COVID is bad but I’ll tell you what’s worse Social occasions where you must converse With actual people in an actual room Who can actually smell you, not like on Zoom So goodbye my lockdown, goodbye my love Isolation and me yeah, we fit like a glove The sight of a calendar that’s totally clean It’s worth more to me than any vaccine The government says that it's safe now outside So I’ll put on some pants and I’ll swallow my pride But 60 billion's a pretty big hole Can I trust their advice if they can't cost the dough So maybe it’s safer to stay where I am Got enough toilet paper to last until Jan But if someone drops round for a casual chat I’m flying to Wuhan and eating a bat Yeah goodbye my lockdown, so long adieu When the second wave comes I'll be waiting for you Cause soon we'll return to the life that we knew Over committed and miserable too Say where are your shoes we’re gonna be late And spending all day doing things we hate Goodbye my lockdown, farewell my friend I’ll never finish a Jigsaw again It’s the time with my kids that I’ll never forget It’s the flexible hours, the sourdough bread Yeah, we flattened the curve and we got out of strife Just so we could be flattened by everyday life

Don’t worry Sammy, there’s no need to shave, with every pandemic, is a free second wave.

This was cathartic. We truly are overworked in this society as there's not enough time to 'live' our lives. We need 4 day working weeks with a maximum 5 hours/day. Thanks ABC

Finally something about the good sides of lockdown. I've wondered if I'm the only person who actually liked this time, but felt guilty saying so because it took a pandemic to make it happen.

Amidst the powerful satire that Sammy always delivers, there is a poignant undercurrent of truth. Do we want to return to 'normal'? I'm not so sure.

I am so glad I wasn't the only one who didn't mind iso. I felt so guilty hearing about how other people were struggling and things like suicide and domestic violence were increasing, and here I was hoping lockdown would last longer.

This song rocks. I have practiced the hermit life for a while know. Not by choice. But I think I see things for what it is. A long time before the carona the place I call home had changed. You see I'm a fruit picker born Australian I chose to do what I want to do. But I was sold out just like the Aussie youth who will experience the work that I ( we ) do. Basically every man that does not come from here gets the job and you are forced to do the hibernation thing. Aghh To enjoy the hermit sit in. Patiently waiting for inteigence it seems. 😎

Was this based on any particular song? Or completely original? Either way, it's great!
@OriginalPiMan4 жыл бұрын
The title reminded me of Goodbye My Lover, by James Blunt, but the songs are similar few ways. Maybe they would have been more similar if Sammy focused more on actually singing rather than just reading his well written words.
