In the web novel, garfiel literally caves Suburu's head in so hard he loses an eye, whom garfiel had to heal otherwise he'll die. WN garfiel is far less likeable compared to the anime. I just thought of something that would make RE:Zero even more depressing. Imagine if Subaru never gets rid of return by death, ends up with Emilia, grows old with her, and they die of old age at relatively the same time, but due to Return By Death, Subaru has to constantly relive watching the love of his life die of old age over and over again. But due to Return By Death, he can never leave this endless loop.
