(ALMOST as good as the ones on the other side of the Hudson in Jersey! 🤣) The job opportunity's just the icing on the cake! Actually all kidding aside I hope this works out for you outstandingly! But I guess this eliminates the possibility of our crossing paths at the Greenberg Chantilly show in August. Hey, maybe at York? I'll be there this October. Anyway, looking forward to seeing the new and improved layout!

You’re right Wayne, I actually just moved back for the food, I couldn’t stand bagels and pizza in DC anymore haha. Unfortunately no Greenberg shows but definitely York in October. I am very much looking forward to getting the chance to chat with you!

@@rj.trains Same here! I'm planning on driving up Thursday and doing the show Friday and Saturday. I MAY hit some of the halls Thursday depending on what time I get up there and If if not burned out from the drive. I'll definately hit the You Tube gathering in the Verandah Room Saturday, I wouldn't miis that for anything!

Very nice. I like the BEDT #15. I had the pleasure of running it after my friend, Keith Brigode, restored it in the mid-nineties, before he sold it to Strasburg to become Thomas The Tank Engine. Good luck with the new layout. It will be interesting. An excellent video, as always.

RJ, It's my first time finding your channel and by the way, I love your LIRR waiting room and ticket machine signs. I also have that same C-Liner as you, Love the battleship style numbers on that one. Considering your collection size already, if you're living anywhere near the area, you should really consider joining the TMB O-Gauge Train Club in Dix Hills. We are building a new 6,000 sq ft layout literally down the block from deer park. We are just about to start the scenery stage of our construction. At the very least, It would be great if you could even stop by for a tour of our current progress, We just finished wiring power to the 4th mainline last night. We would be happy to have you.

Nice video. I will look forward to seeing your progress on you next layout. I moved almost a year ago, necessitating dismantling the layout I had built during the previous two or so years. My channel shows the whole process of building and improving that layout, the teardown, last run. and the building of my current layout. You will have plenty of subject mater and story lines for many videos to come.

I’ve been rockin a 3x6ft layout in my bedroom that I have nicknamed the slab.. It’s been a great layout but I torn it down 2 weeks ago since I can’t reach to do scenery so I’m starting a new dog bone layout, def agree with wanting to start over, I also think my layout wasn’t up to the same standard as scenery on other layouts so it’s a good opportunity to use myself in that department, great video! Looking forward to seeing the next layout construction

I started with a 4x8 at one point. Don't compare your work against other, as you build more layouts your skills and scenery work will get better over time.

Are you going to add an upper loop to the new layout? Smart move going back home to save money, that's what I did. If you can't find a house with a basement, you can always put an addition on for a train room.

yes there will be an upper loop on the new layout, and yes, I have to save for house but it is impossible to do that without paying rent

I personally like the tracks to be a little crooked and unlevel It adds interest and a chance for uncoupling Keeps the engineer on their game.. Since I packed away my railroad, I’m between anticipating all the new possibilities of the next railroad and missing the ability to run trains But it is what it is

Nice shirt ACELA Am-Trak. New York not far from me as I live in the State of where American Railroading was founded ha-ha. Dips and Bumps make it Super Realistic, but Running is a problem, I get it. SD45 were the back bones of America in the 1980's FACT as Conrail had a lot of them as well as SD45-2 rebuild units with larger fuel tanks as they were that good. The American way is always BIGGER is always BETTER saying. What I love more than anything is that you're a Southern Fan 4501 and the fact of having Auto-racks of NS. Understood as most would say well yeah, he's in New York ah No CSX is in NY as well as NS ha-ha.

I know the downides to track dips... my friends traveling layout we would spend 2 hours shimming track so we wouldn't have tokeepso close an eyewhen he was running the up heritage fleet or double heading big boys and challengers. His outer loop now has 96 inch curves after we tore humpty dumpty down last time😊 keep enjoying what you're doing. We'll watch what you put up and mostly be patient

It’s always bittersweet to tear down your old layout but I know the new one will be great you might consider putting a 1” guard rail on the outside edge to keep expensive trains from crashing to the floor ask me how I know 👍😃🚂

Rj - just some words of wisdom, it will always be your layout in your parents house. Is it possible to buy your own house and start your own roots.

I’m trying! Unfortunately my rent payments in DC for 450sq ft was more than most mortgages (and was still one of the cheapest buildings in the city), which makes it’s difficult to save to a house. All part of the plan, I’m still only 23, graduated from college at the age of 20, I am hoping to have a house of my own in a couple of years, which is a lot sooner than most people my age.

I am 39. I got my house when I was 21. If I wouldn’t have gotten the house then I wouldn’t be financially doing very well. (Not that things are perfect) being on house 2 all I can tell you is if there is anything else in your life that is a priority other than getting the first house young it shouldn’t be. Get the house. If that means suburbs or farther out. It will be the best decision of your life and your train layouts lives

I agree, which is why I have moved back home to save money on rent. I have to be in the NYC, Philly, or DC areas for my job. Most houses within an 60-90min commute of those cities are still well over $500,000. After a couple of years I should have enough saved

I like your steamers running, but don’t like the noise. The noise bothers me greatly. I like your town and most scenery. Can’t say I’m a fan of modern locos and definitely not that electric Acela train. That’s way too futuristic for my taste. I’ll look forward to your new layout. I don’t understand why you dislike the Lionel Fasttrack. I think it’s superior in looks compared to the standard old style three rail track, but to each their own.

I'm sorry. I can't get into watching a train chasing its tail around a layout. My opinion: such a layout should be running trolleys, i.e., streetcars instead!
