This narration is rather convoluted. For a more accurate picture, read "Storm and Sorrow in the High Pamirs", by Robert Craig. The book gives a detailed account of the climbing activities of that international climbing summer. The Soviet women's tragedy is covered in detail. They were not the only ones to die at that time. Gary Ulin died in one of the avalanches; 5 Estonians died in an avalanche away from aid; Eva Eisenschmidt (a Swiss trekker/photographer) died of exposure. Sorry for the bungled spelling of her name. The Soviet women died due to substandard equipment, faulty judgement and unwillingness to leave behind teammates who were succumbing to hypothermia. Each woman in turn became hypothermic. The storm had hurricane force winds: by not heeding the decision to descend when ordered, the women's outdated equipment was blown away and they had nothing to shield them from the storm. A very sad climbing summer. PS: why are you showing a picture of the dead Everest climber known as "Green Boots" ? Not necessary......

He also uses shots from the movie Everest in several of his videos, this one include, and other video clips that have nothing to do with the incident he is talking about.

@@principecaprincipeca2243 That's not unusual actually, but showing Greenboots is just the lowest thing ever. I think both the video and the narration are both made by AI, with some small adjustments. And just like others on this channel, it winds on and on, around and around, taking forever with barely relevant details. Boring as hell.

Thanks for the clarification. I regretfully agree with "cattymajiv" that this entire video is patchwork quilt type thing, unable to follow the plot line, scattered images reinforcing that. I don't make videos, so I don't want to jump, but wouldn't it be better to clearly define: "This is the story of eight Russian women who died on a failed expedition to ascend XYZ mountain. The cause of death was hypothermia. Among the group was the very notable climber Elvira Shatayeva." Then follow up with the way the expedition was organized, which teams were there [I don't know, because I gave up on trying to decipher the code of the video], when, where, and give a line everyone can follow, not a glacier of a video riddled with crevasses of "asides".

It's sad to think that had they not delayed their climb, maybe they could have avoided the fatalities.😢

stop spreading lie. USSR government was not involved. this was a women only team and women only decision

Showing Greenboots is just the lowest thing ever. Same for the other dead bodies. Those people are somebody's family members you know! I think both the video and the text are both made by AI, and of course the narration is probably computerized too. With some small adjustments to the visuals by a real person. This channel just cranks them out, but how much actual work goes into it? And just like others on this channel, it winds on and on, around and around, taking forever with barely relevant details. Boring as hell.
