@digdrivediy4 жыл бұрын
Good eye! Yes, that is a 1984 300TD wagon and it has a terrific story. That car was purchased brand new in Germany in 1984 by an Army General stationed there. It was shipped home to the States only to be wrecked and totaled in 1985 with very few miles. My Father-in-law bought it wrecked only to discover that it had a golf ball sized hole in the engine block as well as substantial front end damage. He had someone weld the hole shut and his brother-in-law did the body work to repair the car. He has since put 402,000 miles on it and still uses it as his daily driver. Thanks for noticing and commenting on that car, my father-in-law will love that someone mentioned it! And yes, their place is awesome! Thanks.

How does he keep his driveway edges so perfect? Perfect grass right to the edge, but no grass in the stones. Secret sauce?
@digdrivediy4 жыл бұрын
My father-in-law would appreciate you noticing! He sets up a string line from reference stakes so it will be straight and provide him a driving guide. Then attaches a special shield he sets up on his side by side so that he can spray along the string and the shield keeps it from drifting into the grass.. Sounds complicated but the way he has it rigged it actually goes really quick other than the stringing bit. He does an awesome job of keeping that driveway looking great! Thanks for watching and commenting Clint!

Hi Neil my name is John Rancourt and I’m a big fan! My dad and I snow blow our driveway and we were wondering how you clear a driveway in the winter without getting rocks all over the grass on the side of the driveway?
@digdrivediy2 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching. The best way I can say that I don't get rocks in the yard. Is that I don't push him into the grass. I make my pile of snow on the driveway so when it melts all the stones just fall into the driveway and then I regrade it again in the spring. I know what you mean though about getting stones in the yard because been there done that as well. The snow blower has been the best because it doesn't pick up a bunch of rocks when I have the shoes on it that keep it up off the driveway. Thanks so much for checking out my videos. I really appreciate you watching.

When I lived in Iowa, I would get a bag of Fine Ground Corn Meal, that was past it’s prime. Would use a Fertilizer Spreader to put it on the Lawn. Two weeks later, the clover would be dead. Not sure what the Science is behind this, but it worked. Also you didn’t have to worry about too much, killing your lawn.
@digdrivediy4 жыл бұрын
Whoa, that is really interesting. I've never heard of that but I'd love to know the science behind it too. If there is a way to kill the clover like that I'd be all about it! I know a bunch of people in that industry (I'm one of them) so I'm gonna see what I can find out. Thanks for watching and commenting. Take care.

I have one question Neil, did the family, as a whole, inherit 500,000 gallons of red paint at some point? Did the Dante's Inferno paint and supply have a going out of business sale? Just curious. Vinegar as a cleaner is a good idea. Betting Kara taught you that. Enjoy your Labor day weekend my brother.
@digdrivediy3 жыл бұрын
Ha! It's easier to decide on trim, doors and accent colors when you just decide to go monochromatic! Fortunately it's all vinyl siding so hopefully not too much painting too. But, they did use several thousand gallons on the composite trim boards though, so there's that. Hope you enjoy your Labor Day as well. We are heading out in the motorhome for a quick little 2 day trip. Thanks for watching and the great comments. Catch ya on the next one!

For broadleaf control herbicide I just use any product that contains 2,4-D and dicamba. Examples would be: "Tri-Mec, Mec-Amine D, Triplet, or Brash". The most common "consumer grade" product is probably Tri-Mec I think. I can't remember which brand I was spraying here for sure.

Thanks! I used a herbicide called Brash which is just dicamba and 2, 4-D. It is off label to use in lawns but I work with a bunch of farmers And I'm able to get stuff like this. Weedmaster would be another brand that is the same thing.

I"m not even sure. I know this tractor does have the simplest version though without all the extra linkage crap in there. It works really good and doesn't creep at all. I think this is a newer one cause it had the paint peel issue. Like late 80's or early 90's.

That's a good thing to keep in mind. There was one strap on the front pulling it forward against the front rail of the trailer, so at least it didn't have zero. You can barely catch the strap going across the top of the toolbox in front as the truck drives by. I should probably have more than one on there though. Fortunately I went to my father in law's who just live a mile and a half down the road. Thanks for watching Gerald!
