Maybe a little feedback for MistrSpray... I think it might help if the parking stand posts were height adjustable, or could be flipped over to get them up out of the way, especially with the limited lift height of the 3PH on a sub-compact tractor.

Thanks Tim! Another great video! Teejet is great to work with. I wanted to set my sprayer up so that the effective spray pattern was the same distance as my wheel tracks. I made a call to Teejet, they asked me 3-4 questions and then told me how high off the ground my boom needed to be to create the correct spray coverage. They were awesome!!

I have a 40 gallon electric pump sprayer. I don't have to worry of the pto pump rusting shut. And with electric pump, the switch is on my right fender of my Kubota. Turns on & off easily, saves fuel, and is easy to use. 10 ft boom is good for the use it gets. Plus a 25ft hose and spray wand. And better speed control without worrying about hitting things in close quarter spraying.
@garymeyer32942 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. I have the same setup on a skid sprayer made by Schaben, the same brand that makes ag sprayers. About 1/4 the cost and complexity of Tim's setup. I put it on the back of my Can-Am utv and have a wire running from the electric pump to a rocker switch on my dash. I can watch the MPH on my dash. 3 MPH seems perfect, I can see the outside right and left jets in my outside rear view mirrors. So easy. Plus, with the 10 foot boom its so easy to judge your tracking by looking at your previous run's tire tracks. I could never use a setup like Tim's. Too awkward to use unless all you had to spray was football fields.

Thanks for sharing the temp info. 190 seems high for the ambient temp (looked like a nice day!), however the hills, high RPM/High gear and PTO, with a lower ground speed and with a heavy tractor doesn't seem unreasonable. There are soo many variables to keep track of!

Id recommend sizing your boom to cover say 3 or 4 lawn mower stripes, just like farmers size their sprayer width with planter widths. I have a 60 inch mower deck and built a 180 inch boom from an old field cultivator mounted boom. It seems to be a good width on my property.

Expensive foamers are for field work. Get yourself some spray indicator, Tractor Supply and others have it. Wayyyy cheaper than a foamer and you know EXACTLY where the spray went! I use the blue dye for grass, just mix it in your tank and it will leave a slight color where you sprayed that lasts no more than a day or two. Great demonstration of why I can't consider a boom, I have way too many trees and obstacles and I keep planting or building more. I also use a Mix-on-Exit system so the main tank is only water and the solution tank is all the chemicals, makes cleanup and changeover easier. Downside is I have a whole spreadsheet dedicated to figuring out the mix concentrations and spray speeds and nozzles to use for each chemical. For tractor speed I use a bicycle GPS and get speed in tenths then use full pedal and RPM to hold the speed in the ballpark.

I've measured and 110 degree spray pattern isn't what you actually get. I had to modify my sprayer to put the nozzles a bit closer together in order to get a consistent spray pattern. Consistancy to me means no heavy or light strips between the rows. Also there is a specified height that you need to be at. To test all this spray water on concrete at your chosen speed. Then go back and look at the spray pattern. Avoid pooling or dry spots. Also like in agriculture you need to use the right tips to avoid floating droplets, especially when there is wind and you have a garden or shrubs you don't want to damage. Hope this helps.

The low speed ap for your phone is called "Tractor Speed". Yes you are driving too fast and your bouncing is changing the spray pattern (narrow rows when boom is close to the ground and insufficient coverage when you are too high) and the swaying from side to side means you can't have consistent coverage and are missing spots. 4.5mph is 6.6 feet per second, so a 500 foot run at 4.5mph should take about a minute and a quarter, or just about 400 feet per minute, with rounding errors. Assuming that you can (unlike me) drive in a straight line, you could measure your speed via a stopwatch and not have to worry about the lack of low speed accuracy of a GPS app, since the timer should be way more both accurate and precise than is necessary for this application :)
