Another excellent explanation of how swing speed is produced. Most other instructors will tell us not to pull, and if they do tell us to pull, they certainly don’t tell us to swing the club, i.e., turn the forearms over. They call that rolling the wrist, which is a no-no to them. So a miss educated student will not swing the club. Most other instructors are telling us to straighten our lead leg, but they are not telling us it should be up and back nor are they telling us that the trail leg should also be up and back in the take away. Thanks, as always, for the correct education. Keep being honest, even if it means being contrary, love it. Cheers.

Great video Stu! Tried this and got a 15 mph head speed increase to 88.5 mph with my 7 iron. Crazy! When you said pull harder and longer on the handle that was when it finally clicked for me. With your grip, I was able to push off harder to initiate and then continuously pull all the way early and keep my radius (you had another video on pushing arms out from chest). And with the pressure down on handle end, I felt I have face stability as well! Phenomenal! Many things coming together now-thank you for making great content like this!

Great vid, as usual Stuart! The word 'Pull' is tricky since it connotes power but power isn't speed. For me, power tends to make me to tighten the arms and shoulders and turn off the other speed producers-the legs and hands. I like to think more like it's casting a fishing rod- there's the initial pull and then there is a braking system that let's tip of the rod catch up and the line/sinker to shoot forward. By adding the other ingredients, this vid shows the complete picture!

I really enjoyed this video Stuart, thank you for taking the time & effort to do it. Is there a bit of timing in the swing phase so you're not hitting at the ball but through it towards the target and is this timing more of a feel that you have to develop? I hear a lot of teachers talking about swinging through the ball and not at it and I'm not sure what the distinction between the two is.
@GoodGolfCoaching Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind feedback net zero. I would encourage you to refer back to my video on timing “and” tempo. There is timing in every swing, fast/slow/pull/not pull. So every swing has a large timing element to it. Hope that helps. Best wishes Stu 😊

Hmm. This is Interesting. Using this method, without really knowing why it was working, transformed my range practice earlier this year, but I struggled to take it to the course. Often I would hit thin shots and then end up back on the pull train by the end of the round. Something I clearly need to re-visit as I was clearly on the right track.

Great content Stu, any experience or views on speed stick training. I have been experimenting with hitting the driver harder to gain distance and there is a definite correlation between hitting hard and hitting out of the middle of the club, when you then mix in some of the ideas on this vid it get really interesting. ......good one Stu...... If I'm overthinking this I apologize. Would it be safe to say that the pull part and the push part you can consciously think about doing put the actual swing part is not a conscious move but just happens as a result of the other two?.......thanks ⛳🍺

Hey Gary, I don’t believe you’re overthinking at all. The swing part is absolutely a conscious thought at impact. Vital, I’d say. Hope that helps buddy. Best wishes Stu 😊

@@GoodGolfCoaching ...... Okay it's official I'm overthinking it. Hi Stuart, really enjoying your videos, idea of having a counter to the pull action is such a good one I think will really help my game. One quick question, when you talk about releasing/swinging the club at impact, how does this differ from the idea of “flipping”? Is it ‘swinging’ the club too early? Or something else? Hope that makes sense!
@GoodGolfCoaching Жыл бұрын
Hi Alexander, releasing or as I reference it as “swinging” the club is accepting the golf cub “head” must swing. Flipping is referring to the orientation of the club head and this is very much a reference of where the club face is directed. Two very different ingredients. Hope that helps. Best wishes Stu 😊
@Ulster2 Жыл бұрын
There is a belief in golf ( science based?) that the pull you describe will eventually induce the club shaft to release automatically about the wrists. Furthermore another engineering principle of the club is that it is designed for the toe to automatically rotate faster than the heel. Therefore this would indicate that ideally you should have passive wrists and a grip attuned to the closure rate of the clubhead. Do you agreed with both these statements. As you also point out there has to be a brake applied at some point. ( timing). Therefore if the above are true the downswing is a pull and brake with appropriate grip and nothing else added. Does that make sense. Thanks.
@GoodGolfCoaching Жыл бұрын
The pull will induce a larger reaction, than no pull, the swing will occur when the acceleration of the handle reduces. You can’t have passive wrists at strike, not possible. The toe is always going to orientate around the heel due to cog. Hope that helps. Best wishes Stu 😊
