Nice viddy Brad. I learned something so thanks. One more grip for your list would be the Corey Pavin weak left, strong right hand grip. It’s oddly effective.

Please do a good good labs about the mechanics of your stroke. You have one of the best putting strokes I have ever seen.
@gripitandripit3 ай бұрын
“In armlock putting, the grip of the putter is pressed against the forearm, but the club is not anchored to the body in a way that restricts its swing. The crucial difference is that, while the forearm provides a point of contact, the club itself is still free to move with the natural motion of the arm. This technique is deemed within the rules because it does not create the kind of anchoring that the rule intends to prevent.”

Based on this video alone I’ve changed mine and the different result is literally surreal. I reckon saved 4/5 putts per round.

Would also be interested to know your take on forward shaft lean when putting - pros and cons. I’ve always tinkered with using it but never felt like it’s made a difference. I know people who swear by doing it. Great Labs video as always!
@A-FrameWedgeАй бұрын
I think most of the great putters either had their shaft pretty much perpendicular to the green or just a tiny bit of shaft lean, because they use a forward press.
@scsmity6 ай бұрын
imma have to try some of these grips for sure on the practice green. the one i have been using and been having decent luck with is a regular overlap but instead of just overlapping the pinky finger i do the pinky and the ring finger and also do the finger down the grip
@lukeemmo026 ай бұрын
Im a lefty, I do the finger down the grip and also choke down the grip a little. For me feels quite comfortable and yeh. Plus I play off a 15hc so can probably try something new lol.

Long putters are for back injuries.. Easier to putt standing more upright for some.. Will Zalaclitoris has moved to the long putter after back surgery.. Langer, Freddy,. Adam Scott just looks cool using it.
@benmonroe_the_17 ай бұрын
I used to use the finger down the grip. It just came natural. But I also sucked at putting, so I ditched it last yr. I went to an arm lock conventional, but have settled on an arm lock claw. I like both, but I just feel like I have more pace control/consistency in the short-medium putt range w/the claw. 5:23

Brad, on a cross handed grip would you put emphasis mostly your left hand, now at the bottom, or still your right hand when you actually make the stroke?

Had to think about what grip I use...generally I just grab the club and my hands just automatically set themselves especially on the putter. I know I have done the finger down the grip one when I am having some issues, generally if I think I am twisting the club this gives me a better feel of the face and if I am twisting.

Mine is none of those 😅😅. I'm right handed with a standard size putter and grip. Both my hands go to the bottom of the grip, left hand on first, thumb on top crossing over the grip, index finger pointing down the grip on the left side and the other 3 fingers wrapped around. My right hand goes on the same level of the grip, the pinky and ring finger overlap the 2 corresponding fingers, the right middle finger rests against (not on top of) the left middle finger, my right thumb crosses over the left diagonally and the right index points down the right side. It keeps my wrists level so I can move both hands equally, preventing 1 wrist from breaking

Recently switched to this grip from a regular finger down the shaft grip. Only been 3 rounds, but has completely worked for me. The finger down the shaft always helped my face control and cross handing it has now taken my wrists out of the swing and my speed control has been much more accurate.

I think for the pencil grip. Your right hand is basically keeping the face of the putter stable and in position. That's how it feels to me. I'm sitting here testing each grip. I use the claw but going thru all of these today, I think I'm going to give the normal grip another try.

finger down the shaft grip = Fingerlock grip. It's basically like a wristlock,, just using your finger.
