@@LexVance I’m back with an update I went to multiple store , lowes , Home Depot , AC hardware, none of the stores had it in store , they wanted me to place an order Because of the frustration , my husband called a 24h AC service , and was told they didn’t have a technician available until Saturday So I got on amazon and ordered the capacitor ( after checking the one I have ) It got delivered today , I followed all the steps in the video and boom , my AC is blowing cold air The temperature inside the house was 83 now we are down to 71 I can’t thank you enough for saving us a lot of money , the capacitor was just $15.37 FYI , the AC company wanted to charge us $170 for just a diagnosis Sorry for any errors , I speak French. Thank you 🙏🏾

Same problem on my Bryant. I watched some videos and decided to replace the capacitor. $30 at Ace and took less than an hour. The old capacitor looked fine but was 9 years old.

Hey Lex! My HVAC teacher used to be a Trane dealer. Long story short he had a bunch of Mexican made caps, they all went bad on the shelf in their boxes unused. His techs would unknowingly stock their trucks with them and they were already bad. He had to throw the whole stock away because they were useless

Lex, its always a good idea to take a picture of the wiring on the cap before you remove them to prevent a mistake when installing the new one. (just sayin)

I know a little working as a handyman for years and techs tried to sell new unit to me lol! I changed capacitor and kicked on!!! Yeah! I also had weird problems with blower and it was big piece of insulation that fell off of sidewall next to blower cutting airflow and causing freezing and shutting down the blower... I drilled a hole in line by accident installing my security cameras and patched hole with copper silver wire and mapp gas yep got hot with good torch and put 8 pounds of Freon back in fired up soooo cold ..... I passed all tests for EPA with flying colors at APED universal tech scores ....not an HVAC schooled guy but it can be done.

I just replaced a capacitor on a 5 ton goodman yesterday. Ordered the cap from amazon for 20$. The compressor was not running because the half of the cap for the HERM or compressor side was not working but it showed charging on a multimeter. The hack AC guy wanted 110 service fee, 330 for the capacitor and add another 30 taxes. I averted a 470$ charge for 20 bucks. Only difference was the cap I replaced it with was round instead of oval and the tolerance was 6% on the new one instead of 3% on the old one. The Unit was 4 years old and the capacitor was a 45 microfarad on the HERM and 5 microfarad on the condensor fan. Good day.

My fan and compressor are running but blowing warm air inside. Could it be low on freon? It gets to 70 degrees at night and 85 in the day.

@LexVance I have a question I replaced cooling condensers side . It uses tge r22 or older freon gas. Can I vacuum it out out and charged new refrigerant which you said is for higher heat removal? My is a 2 ton and my home is 2 story 4br 3br. 2200 square feet. This older unit what us normal amperage when running.

@LexVance my heat pump capacitor blew today spewing oily black liquid all over the inside of the heat pump and inside of the access panel. What's the odds a good cleaning, and replacement of the capacitor and relay will fix it? Or is the entire unit toast? Thanks.

Id try to replace cap and contactor relay before replacing whole system. I hope everything works out for you! 🤞🏻

Suddenly, our 5 year old Goodman is not blowing cold... It just stopped this morning. I'm not hearing the compressor kick on and it's blowing cool air out of the top. Suction line usually has some condensation on it, but it's dry right now. I'm wondering if it could be the same issue?

How would I know what size capacitor for my AC?
@LexVance Жыл бұрын
It says it on the capacitor. Like 30/5 mfd or 40/5 mfd. Makes sure the new mfd ( microfarads ) match the old capacitor.
