I started to hate both notability and goodnotes because of the paper view. I dont want that i just want to take notes unlimitedly and Microsoft Onenote is perfect for that. It gives you unlimited amount of space so you can not only create super notes but also draw incredibly helpful mindmaps etc.

Great video and thanks for your insights. I used the paid version of goodnotes for about 3 years on my 2018 ipad pro but had to discontinue using it because the app became unreliable and glitchy. It was a very smooth deliberate writing experience with my Apple Pencil but now when writing there is latency and weird streaks while composing a message. I've had to switch to apple notes which works as intended. Any advice would be appreciated.

GoodNotes usually doesn’t have a lot of bugs… rebooting the iPad usually helps but persistent bugs need attention from the developers themselves.

Collaboration is a game-changer for teachers, hooray! Do you know how autosave and complete back-ups work? I use Notability and have experienced the horror of having to do a complete restoration of my notes using the automatic backup; nearly all of the organization with folders and files were lost! At the time I had about 1000 files and that was bad enough, but I now live in fear of having to re-sort several thousand notes manually. Perhaps Notability has changed this, but if not, I'm tempted to make the switch to GoodNotes.

We will try backup in GoodNotes, but Notability has one of the best backing systems on the market. But we'll know for sure once we've thoroughly tested the one in GoodNotes.

Is the pen sold separately? I have to go buy an iPad, then download GoodNotes. From there is my pen question? What kind should I get? I am new to this app I just happen to see a girl use it on TikTok and love this.

You can use a Crayon by Logitech or an Apple Pencil by Apple. GoodNotes seems to only support the Apple Pencil only, though

The functionality of GoodNotes and Noteability is pretty much the same now. I prefer Noteability just because of they way notes are organized and the bigger selection of graphics and stickers available.
