Goodwood SpeedWeek rally super special in full!

Goodwood SpeedWeek presented by Mastercard saw the first ever full stage rally held by Goodwood, around five incredible, specially created stages on the Goodwood Motor Circuit and its surrounding service roads on both tarmac and gravel. With several stages run at night this was a proper test for both drivers and their co-drivers, as well as for current WRC stars Elfyn Evans and Jari-Matti Latvala, who ran as the 'zero' cars in the brand new Toyota GR Yaris.
The cars were split into two different categories, with cars from legendary eras, including Group B and Group A, that don't have modern safety precautions, running as demonstrations, and any cars up to standard, including a screaming Lancia Stratos and several of the very latest R5 WRC2 cars, running competitive timed runs.
Expect to see Audi Quattro, MG Metro 6R4, Peugeot 205 T16, Ford RS200, Toyota Celica, Lancia Stratos, Ford Escort, Ford Fiesta, Lancia Delta S4 and more on the tricky stages through the weekend's worth of awesome action.

@@gewizz2 F1 is one of the lowest polluting auto sports and the reason I say this is cause the more efficient the engineering is in these race cars the less they will output that is toxic, the higher that thermal efficiency the better the performance and the safer. If anything you should praise these people for engineering these speed demons to be efficient and fast as possible. The better the quality the lower the pollution.

Just saying I love their style and wrc cars now are faster but the s4 Delta had something like 800hp but too many people were dying so they restricted the hp to 295 or 300 because of this. There's a great documentary called Too Fast To Race, check it out if you can.

They really didn't set this up for watching at home. You get winners on the leaderboard that you never even saw run. Should have had two commentators, and recorded each car from start to finish, then did a piggyback of each commentator and car. But that's easy for me to say from my rec room here in Indiana, US. It's still nice to see the sport and cars that I never got to see in person, but drooled over when I was a kid.

Great to have motorsport going on, but this was a poor show really. It is surprising as Goodwood is the finest place to watch historic race cars driven as quick and in some case quicker than they were in period by top current era racers, but this was pedestrian most of the time.

Can the show organizers stop pretending someone is counting the time? We're not children, we've seen cars before. This just a meetup of epic cars with a short relocation from A to B like when you ask your cousin to move the expensive car down the yard but slow to not scratch it. The presenter even had the nerve to say when that dude spun out at the donut that he's gonna have to make up that time lost. Yeah, if the wind blows in the same direction he'd halve the time.

Commentator's bias is really annoying. He clearly has a Lancia bias over other cars and downplays the Quattro every time.

I don't see what you're talking about at all. He seems fair and reasonable to me and is just stating facts. Plus Audi fanboys forget that the Quattro wasn't really competitive after the introduction of the Peugeot 205 T16 and Lancia Delta S4, as well as also not wanting to admit they got smashed by the REAR wheel drive Lancia 037 in 1983 LOL. It's the car that kicked off the AWD Group B car into full swing sure, but by no means was it the fastest. The problem with the Audi is that it was too heavy, wide, long and unwieldy compared to the 890 kg machines of late Group B, back when Group B first started and it was one of the only AWD cars the sheer fact that it had AWD was enough to dominate and win, but as Group B progressed manufacturers caught on, cars got lighter, got AWD just as advanced as the Audi and faster because of less weight and more compact dimensions. You can clearly see the deficiencies that Audi was trying to make up for with the S1E2 Quattro, The aero on that car is unlike anything ever seen on a rally car and it was extremely effective but didn't do anything to combat the main issue, being the overall weight, length and width of the Audi. While it may not have been the heaviest Group B car it certainly was far from the lightest. The Delta S4, 037 and 205 T16 were all 890 kg which makes the Audi weigh about a chunky 70 kg more than the main competition. The Audi really excelled on fast roomy stages where the width and length of the car didn't matter as much, and the drivers could really use the Audi's aero and it's power to the full advantage, but if it got tight, twisty or technical than the shorter, narrower and lighter 205's and Delta S4's had a much easier time traversing around tight twisty stuff than the Audi would have. You also had to remember that this was before the days of rally cars having hand brakes so you only had the inertia of the car to get around really tight twisty corners. So when you look at it that way it starts to make sense. The Audi might not look like a big car but in comparison to the 205 and the Delta S4 it was a pretty big car, the bigger you make a car the less margin for error you have when you have to use only the cars inertia around a tight corner, if you go on YT and look at Group B footage you will eventually find clips of Quattro's that are struggling to make it around the tight and twisty stuff while the 205's and Delta's had no issues with this, even the 6R4 would also fare better in that department. The Quattro was an amazing car and extremely ahead of it's time, but Group B was also one of the most competitive era's of motorsports to ever exist and manufacturers were ALWAYS looking for ways that they could gain an advantage, just like Audi was in 1984 when they shortened the wheelbase of the Quattro by 12.6 inches.. Why do you think they did that? It's because the car was not aglie enough.. And even after 1984 it still wasn't agile enough. The car didn't win anything after 1985 simply because the competition was too fast, the commentator isn't biased he's literally just stating facts. Sorry if facts offend you. And even if he DID have a Lancia bias everyone has their favorites and it's not a crime to have your favorites. It's not like he came right out and said "The Quattro sucks" Lancia is my favorite, but I respect the Audi too because it was the car that made everyone stand up and take notice.
