I've never been into many prewar cars but that Fiat S76 is awesome. Perfect example of why this event is so cool. As I would have never know or taken interest in a car like that normally but seeing (and hearing) it on the hill climb a few years ago made me look into it.

Today they have excuses like tires not holding up for speed records... look up the old Mercedes and Audi (Auto Union)... they ran over 400 Km/h (250 mph) before WW2. Record was 432 Km/h. Absolutely crazy stuff.

The Fiat S76 is more felt than heard. Each exhaust stroke is like a 20hz note to the chest. Absolute beast to feel up close. Surprised the McLaren Chevrolet M8F Can-Am didn't make the cut.

Hearing that Sauber C9 on Sunday was something else. Plus that Valkyrie sounds absolutely phenomenal, especially off the line. And that Ferrari 512S was the single loudest car I've heard in my entire life. Was just incredible.

I actually think the normal Valkyrie sounds better than the AMR Pro. An aftermarket exhaust would definitely make the Valkyrie sound crazy though

The EV has no place here. All the other vehicles are designed for another purpose, and are just taking on the hill as well. Most are race cars with heritage, and competitive seasons behind them. The EV was built simply to drive 1.2 miles up the hill. It’s just a publicity stunt. Let’s see it do a 200 lap GP. Or 60 laps of BTCC?

T.50 is so underrated. That car is pure genius. How much does it weigh? What does the engine rev up to? Imagine what Gordan Murray could've done if he did what Aston did with the Valkyrie. Also wish the T.50 Nikki Lauda was there. Also the T.33.

The Valkyrie and also the AMG One are increasingly looking like silly ideas when compared to the t.50 and t.33. I'd feel like a complete idiot driving the Valkyrie around on anything other than a track. Murray's vision and philosophy is so far ahead of these other "cars" it's almost embarrassing.

Whilst the McMurtry was without doubt hugely impressive, one of the best sounds it was not. For example, there was more than McLaren F1 going up the hill, and they sound much, much better.

Nobody comments on the sweet symphony of the 635csi inline 6 with side exhaust...it brings me back to my childhood when I watched the Group A races at Vila do Conde urban circuit, in the north of Portugal. There were also a couple M1's, who had more or less the same engine. I just love it!

Finally the 991 RSR is getting respect it deserves, which is the most violent and visceral sound a car has ever produced. Seriously going to miss the GTE-Pro class. 😢 #1 and #2 are infact my respective favorite cars, being a huge Porsche nut the RSR will always have my unwaivering love and preference. The Huayra R is by far thr most unique sounding machine ever created, even more so than the Zonda R or an F1 car. The visceral scream combined with the insanely loud induction noise is pure beauty. I think the Valkyrie was a bit snuffed, definitely an amazing car looks, performance, and sound. Maybe the AMR version will show better but still I feel the 6-7 cars ahead of it were less sound appealing TBH. And the complaint of the vid, why on earth is there an electric car on a "best sound" vid? 🤯 Well done compilation! 👏

.... a car has ever produced? It's definitely up there but I'd say the 787B would have a more visceral sound along with the 1995 Ferrari 412 T2. I haven't heard either of those so that's only my guess but I have heard the glorious C9 at full tilt as well the 991 RSR and the C9 definitely left more of an impression (thank goodness for historic racing and for living so close to Sebring). One thing that helps older cars to have that raw sound is their manual or less sophisticated gearboxes that violently slam into gears when shifting up. The C9's redline shift from first to second sent out literal shockwaves that only (in my experience) the C6R came close to replicating.

The FIAT type S76 was far ahead of it's time. It was built in 1911 to break the land speed reckord. I has a staight 4, 27 liter fire spitting inferno for an engine. If performance cars were as ground breaking today, they would regularly reach over 600 kph. The S76 is also known as " The Beast of Turin ".
