Something most people don't know is that the end of the zirk adapter can tighten and loosen around a zirk. Similar to a collet on a Dremel or a drill chuck. The little fingers inside can move in and out.

Love that you left the zerk problems in...Dont have a tractor or the land to need one but if i did...dont think i would even bother with a weed wacker attachment like this. It really looks like after hitting a post it was missing a 45% angle after the spring back on the other side of each post. Great Video!

The grease gun end needs to be unscrewed to let the pressure off of the fingers. It will then let go of the zert. New fingers grip grip too hard to gave the barrel full tight.

Beats the heck out of weed eating that fence line. I grew up on a 42 acre horse farm - had to trim I am guessing almost a mile worth of the visible/decorative fence. My dad could see a blade of grass I missed from 50 yards away. Great life growing up. I doubt he would have purchased something like this even if was available. Lock'n'Lube (LNL154) now actually has a pistol grip gun that takes Lube Shuttle tubes, and comes with a Lock'n'Lube grease connector. Using a LNL adapter with a LS gun requires a M10-1 to 1/8" adapter. LS also does have the safeLock connector, which is similar to the LNL connector, but not as good. Hi Courtney, The concept of this trimmer is good, but it seems a bit of refinement is necessary before it will be a great attachment. Clamping some kind of flexible plastic rod on on your loader bucket to set a specific distance from the fence might also make using this easier.

Most hand grease guns have a screw collar where it attached to the zerk. You can make it loose and then put it on the zerk and then tighten it. You have to keep doing this or get it set at a happy medium and use it that way.
@ShaneZettelmier2 жыл бұрын
One thing I can tell you about trimmer line as far as how long they last, round is usually your best option. The shaped ones are just pieces of the lien cut out. They have sharper edges so they might get you a little cleaner cut but they don’t last as long generally. It’s just less material and it just wears out faster. These tests are all done on handheld weedeaters but the round line lasted longer.
I changed my grease gun tip to the opening kind, way better. The original tip stuck on. I took the whole tip completely apart and it still stuck on. As to the fence line trimmer, I tried a walk behind, but it is a struggle pushing it over bumps and holes. Still looking for something delicate enough to go around small orchard trees. Maybe a gas trimmer head with an articulating hedge trimmer.

You have to be smarter than the tool, that style grease gun tip is threaded at the very tip so that it is adjustable to fit different size zerk fittings, it is clearly tightened all the way down and locked on to the zerk, just turn it left and the internal ball bearings will unlock from the fitting.

Firstly, a lockNlube type coulper will solve the grease issue, or you can always undo the your existing coupler, use a spanner (wrench) & pair of multi grips or curved pliers to undo the cover (where the knurling is) & this will take some pressure off the teeth inside so it wont get stuck on like that. Secondly, here in Australia & New Zealand & I think a lot of European brands have the under tree (in your case a fence) already built into the flail mower, & usually has a proper blade set up on it, not wimpy cord! I'm Pretty sure Trimax in New Zealand make an attachment for both their flail & rotary mowers. Pivot point is a lot further to the outside & by that i mean closer to the tree of post end. Most of these set ups are used in orchards. You may want to look at Muhler in Germany or Austria, & various other European manufacturers, as they make roadside mowers that will amaze you. Lots are mounted on MB Unimog trucks

Seems to work pretty well but if you put a 180 degree mirror on your tractor so you wouldn’t have to crane your neck to see what you’re doing the whole time. I can't think of a great means of keeping the weeds knocked back along fencelines. I think I'd likely go with spraying and call it a day. For some more "decorative" fencelines, maybe a strip of woven weed fabric pinned down and then covered with a stone mulch might be a reasonable solution. It would be WAY too costly and too much work for doing very long lengths of fencelines; but for an ornamental area near the house or such it might be a good solution.
