Very rarely sparking around here, but we're happy to see that you're still alive, and well, and babbling ^^

Thank you! The pub channel has been occupying most of my attention the past week or two, but I am nothing if not fickle so it's quite possible next week I'll be spending more time on the wine channels!

Tweedy, another excellent review. This time in the gloom. I think Um Bongo is a new addition to the tasting notes. Did you ever drink it in The Congo?

Thanks Ken! Yes i have heard they drink it in the Congo. I think I mostly drank it in the East Midlands.

Hi John, I'm wondering whether you also wore hiking boots to the office on Fridays? I mean where would you have put your glass?? Just been looking at the map, this wine was produced just south of Andover, 2.79 miles from Portway where I think Paul works. I worked there too many years ago. I think the Test is chalk river but it doesn't really look like it near this wine yard. All the best!!

Cheers David! I don't think I ever wore hiking boots to the office but there was a preponderance of flat surfaces on which to put glasses, with only the slightly initial hurdle of having to shove off some irksome computing equipment first. At some point we moved to a new office which had a nice balcony with a good view of London and for a brief time there was much merriment at these end-of-the-working-week shindigs enjoying that outlook... but then our facilities people did a "health and safety assessment" and determined there was a risk somebody might not responsibly place their glass on an appropriate flat surface (or in their hiking boots), and it could end up falling off the balcony and causing an accident. So drinks on the balcony were banned. It was a terrible waste - all those sunsets left callously untoasted. That was probably a significant contributing factor for me finally deciding the corporate world really wasn't for me! I don't think I've ever been to Andover but it has a mystical quality for me as (more or less) the starting point of the A303.

@EnglishSparklingWine Hi John, Spoilsports or party poopers, down here they would be called "aguafiestas". You've got some catching up to do, those sunsets can't remain untoasted!! In the world of mumbo jumbo the sun may not rise again if you do not make amends ........ not that we believe in mumbo jumbo!! The mystical thing for me about Andover is that I took a job there in the first place. Thankfully it didn't last too long and perhaps in a round about way led to me moving out to Spain. Maybe there is some kind of ley line connecting this all up. Not that I believe in ley lines ..... or mumbo jumbo!! Have a great weekend!!
