Thanks for the review of these. Our Mach-E’s Michelins are at 4/32nds after just 13,000 miles. Sorry to hear that yours didn’t last either. If I can’t get a sponsorship, I’m going to try pursuing the new car tire warranty which should give 60% off replacements. I’m considering an EV focused tire though for better wear without losing range, so that this next set doesn’t need replaced before we turn in our Mach-E in 2026.

Hey Matt, Subscribed fan here. 👍 Let me know (or maybe do a video) on what you find. I have an EV6 GT Line AWD with 14,000 miles, and the 255/45 R20 Cross Contact stock tires are close to needing replacement. I live in the greater Denver area, and would like a good all season as well, but would prefer an EV focused tire.

what was the tread depth when the CrossClimate2 was new? OEM stock tires that comes with new cars usually have less tread depth to start with so they are lighter to meet the advertised (faults advertise!?) millage.

Have used Michelin for many, many years with no issues. Goodyear is a good tire, but my experience has been they are hard to keep balanced for some reason. Diving exactly the same way, Michelin doesn't have that issue.

Replaced my Model 3's Michelin OEMs with the same model 2 months back and contrary to reports that range dropped with the new tires, mine did not. In fact, it may have improved. I did get a wheel alignment done right after getting the new tires. OEMs lasted 20K miles, similar to the first Model 3 I had. Also replaced the Continental OEMs on the Model Y last month with Cross Climate 2s after booking to get Weather Ready 2 from America's Tires, because the check in staff showed me EV range comparison between the two. The CC2s were at a 4/5 and the WR2s were at a 2/5 on the range scale so I switched to the CC2s because I drive in the snow in winters. Y's OEMs also lasted 20K miles. Hoping the replacements get at least 40K on each car.

Appears Goodyear took a CC2 tire mold added some extra siping and now they have an all weather tire. Goodyear and Dunlop both had a similar tire design back in the 90's. The exception was that the center of the tire tread was recessed and didn't make contact with the road surface.

Goodyear assurance are longest life tires i have ever used. My monte carlo can be out of alignment and bad suspension and theynwill wear slow. As long as you apply a ceramic protectant to both walls because goodyear material dries the quickest. It doesnt have to be a shine but any graphene or ceramic protectant will work. I always liked cooper tires the ride is great everytime i get them. My monte carlo is in great shape today and its 3.4l is as strong as a 3.8 and will have a turbo+supercharger eventually. I have another 3.4 on the engine stand im building. I want to make it a manual FWD transaxle i love fwd cars they remind me of getting pulled by horses in texas. Ive always found that michelin tires are generic but i have never seen a michelin tire with a manufacturing defect or busted sidewall. i work in a tire shop.

Thanks for the video. OEM stock tires always has less tread depth to be lighter and meet the better rolling resistance, millage ratings. After watching Goodyear's tread ware animation video in slow motion a few times, it looks to me this tire ware off the first layer of tread pretty well at 6mm depth and the surrounding tread cuts/sips disappears very quickly afterward so I am concerned about the performance longevity. I am never loyal with any brand name as long the products is well made I will buy them. As a gentle accelerate & breaking slow driver (around speed limit is call slow these days I guess) with a FWD HEV, I am on the second set of CC2 since 2020 and driving average 100Km per day. First H-Speed set I drove 93,000Km-94,000Km with 5mm (6/32nd) tread depth left on these 5 year / 100,000Km warranty EV approved tires and sold it for 50% of what I paid for. I used the money to buy the current V-Speed set just past December. The current set is already at 50,000Km+ at 7mm tread depth last week and they are still very competent in 1+ foot of unplowed snow, ice, freezing rain and deep slush or through 6" of flooded streets just this past year with their full depth treads that has been tested by Michelin and 3rd party tire test reviews down to 2mm tread depth in these conditions (and in their announcement presentation). Looking forward to the long term test results on this tire in the coming year before I need another set of tires or... before Crossclimate 3 is released!?.

00:42 15,000 miles only???!!!😳 I mean… Your driving must be anything but smooth.😅 These tires are supposed to be guaranteed for about 55,000 miles. I have some Toyo tires that are guaranteed for 45,000 miles. They are on the way to reach 60,000, miles and they look better than yours.🤓 ( Rotation is done every 5,000 miles.) But… Sure, if you have the budget to change 4 tires every 15,000 miles, I want to say: “Good for you, man.😊”

I was going to get some CrossClimate 2's yesterday then I saw the WeatherReady 2's on display side by side with the CC2. I decided to investigate them. Discount Tire (other places as well) has them $15 cheaper than the CC2, $80 off set of 4 if you buy them before tomorrow, and $100 manufacture rebate. That right there is a $260 saving over CC2 if I get all the discounts and rebates. Discount tires data for WR2 shows they are not EV rated, higher roller resistant (1.5) vs CC2 (4.5), more noise (3) vs CC2 (3.5), worse stopping distance in almost all conditions. WR2 (Dry 129, Wet New 153 and Old 196, Winter Rating 5) Vs CC2 (Dry 125, Wet New 145 and Old 164, Winter Rating 4.5. The stock ProContacts for my Hybrid Maverick are better on noise and rolling resistance than the WR2. So, looking at the data going on with WR2 it shows better performance than stock and a little worse than CC2. Save money over CC2 but lose MPG over the CC2 and Stock. It looks like it could be more than the cost of the tires quickly if the rolling resistance is that bad. The data could be flawed since it is new. Either way got like 12 hours to make up my mind.
@CarGuy11

Yeah that data must be for WeatherReady 1. There is no data for the 2s yet.

@@CarGuy11 Did you notice much of a mileage distance? I drive mostly HWY about 30 miles a day and every few weekends 200-300 miles getting about 30 MPG with a Hybrid Maverick and my wife ICE Camery is about the same at 40MPG. Still using stock tires for both. I was touching both of them when I was looking. The rubber did fell a softer on the WR2 over the CC2. The Discount Tire data did say they did test it at 60 MPH on Dry Roads. Did no say wet weather was used just showed data on it . Snow weather no testing. Then next to the data it shows CC2 comparison. I find is hard to believe wet stopping is that bad to the CC2. Next question is why are they cheaper just to get people to use them?
@CarGuy11
@CarGuy11 2 ай бұрын
@polsdofer960 I didn’t notice a mileage penalty yet but need more time. They are on sale and want to get people to try them. They are brand new so should be better than the CC2 since they benchmarked them.

I've had the good year assurance 2 for a week. I drive 112 miles to and 120 miles from work every day. I like the grip. I dont notice noise, but I do always drive with my window 1/3 open all year. I've noticed my milage went down from 31.1 mpg to 30.4 average. Stopping is excellent. I dont know what rolling resistance is. I've always gotten the michellin defenders and was looking at the cc2. But I decided on the goodyear because my research showed them a bit better. So I rolled the dice and let's see what happens. Btw... car is 2021 crv exl. 235/60r18. I've only had car 3 weeks, and it was sold to me with.... blackhawk street tires. All my research said they are all season, but in warmer climates. I live in the northeast. I needed an upgrade.

@@polsdofer960 Thanks for your feed back. "Snow weather no testing" data is what concerns me the most as CC2 has been tested on snow & ice handling and breaking equivalent to the best of the best top 10 dedicated winter tires (depending on the size tested, larger side wall tires are only ~8% below) by Michelin & many 3rd party tire reviewers around the world for years now even down to 2mm with its full depth treads. I like my All Weather tire to be at its safest level at the worst possible weather condition and not only in warm dry & wet weathers.
