The little opposing "blocks" in valley of the tread is not for grip. It's actually to trap air and the air separates the snow/mudd from the tire and helps it "clean out" as you drive. And its not a sales gimmick. It really works and works well!

I ran 3 years on my duratracks with only good results. Northern Ontario offers some of the coldest weather on earth and I was impressed how they handled on snow and ice. 3 years on a heavy f350 that often carries weight in the box and a trailer was impressive. Never heard any road noise on highway, maybe because my diesel is pretty loud. My truck goes went through a fair share mud and deep washout to say that i've put these tires to the test over the years. Awesome tires.

Had a set of 35s for years on a f150 supercrew. Did great on sand and mud offroad, cutting wood and hauling trailers off road, not too loud on the highway at 70mph. Caught a screw in the face of the tread in one at about 30k, had it patched, ran the set to about 60k before replacing. Definitely a good tire.

I just can't believe how quite they are at a highway speed. Just a nice light humm. I have not had a Truck for 20 year and the improvements in the vehicles and tires is amazing. They feel a little soft in the Las Vegas summer heat but seem to be wearing well on the back roads to the lake and river that have a lot of jagged and fractured rock on the road. - 2019 Ram

@LW-dq8pv6 жыл бұрын
@@AirTisdale I got them studded to help on the ice, however, I do have to note that although they are great in winter conditions, on sheer ice, nothing beats an ice tire (blizzak, hakkapellita, x-ice). So best "snow" tires, i've ever had, but fall short on ice compared to dedicated "ice" tires.

there are metal inserts that get put into the tire for added grip on ice. Alot of the states have banned use of them as it does tear up the road.

I live in New-Brunswick and I have been running Duratracs without studs for about 5 years on my Ram 1500. They worked great for summer and winter till about last year (80,000km), they are now comparable to summer tires on ice and are noisier than mud terrains. Watched 3 trucks and 2 cars get stuck about half way up. Put her in 4 low and crawled up. Didnt slip once. That road was the only road to my house. Luckily we were also able to tie up to a few of the cars and get them straightened out from the top of the hill and got them to where they could turn around. I bought these for dual purpose off road (mud, rocks, clay in eastern US) and snow on road. I've used them in both situations and in my opinion they are a great tire. They are on a 2011 Nissan Frontier in the 285/75R16 size, so just shy of 33x11.5". I do not have studs in mine. The reason I went for these tires over a more traditional MT is for on road snow performance. We've been getting 24+ inches at least once a year in central/eastern PA and I wanted to make sure there were no problems. We picked up eight inches about a month ago and I was stopping to pull people back onto the road on my way home from work. Absolutely no complaints about these tires. I have about 2500 miles on them, and in my opinion they are not loud at all, but that's subjective. I can just hear them with the radio off.

I'm Canadian 🇨🇦 I love the BFG KO2 (winter rated) more than the Duratracs.... I had the BFG KO1 on my first 3/4 ton truck, I had this truck for 10 years and only one set of tires they never let me down in the snow great tires... Then I bought a 3500 Chevy Diesel that came with the Duratracs 75%, I didn't notice any improvement on ice and snow over my BFG KO1. That is to say the Duratracs are great tires on Ice and snow. Once I pulled the truck off to the side of the road to get out and get to work I was parked for a minute or two before I got out and then the snow bank at the side of the road gave way and my 4×4 one ton truck crew cab Long box slid down the side of a very large ditch several meters and buried the whole side of my truck in snow... I had to dig the one side of the truck out so I could drive the truck back and forth to get momentum to drive out which I eventually did drive out of the ditch with no help from another truck or winch... The Duratracs perform very well, but I still prefer the BFG all terrain KO tires.... Those Duratracs are like normal winter tires, if you drive them year around they don't last long. Those Duratrac Wranglers only lasted for 1 1/2 years and they were 5% vs the BFG lasting 10 years and out living the truck I put them on and still having 30% left. The BFG KO1 and KO2 tires have also gotten me out of sticky situations so I think I will stick with the BFG.

I live in Fort Mac where they were tested and the majority of trucks up here, whether it be fleet or personal trucks/SUV's, are running these tires. Quickly becoming the go to tire of the north for a reason.

Best A/T tires I've ever had! 2019 Colorado ZR2 drives great in the mountains of Pennsylvania regardless of the weather with these tires equipped. Unsure of tread life at the moment but 30k miles and they look about half way down in tread life. Would recommend for any truck.

I thought they said it was labeled as an MT? I just got a set and I’m curious if they’re an AT/Hybrid or MT.

I also have a 2019 Chevy Colorado ZR two with 28,000 miles on it and I have noticed that these tires have gotten louder and louder recently to the point where I almost can’t stand it. Rotating the tires does not seem to change anything the Howell just keeps getting louder as I put more miles on the truck

I have No Complaints with these tires, I have these on my 2012 Ram 1500 4x4 Laramie, and I’m in my 3rd year with them on my truck, and they still have a lot of tread left, I haven’t had a chance to see there performance in heavy snow deeper than 5-7 inches yet, but the little snow my area has gotten, and the little mud and off road i have gone, they are a great tire thus far, not too loud on hwy either. Hope this review of them helps anyone considering these tires. Cheers

I have roughly 3k on these and either I've gone def or they are still very quiet especially compared to BFG AT's which are a low slap tire.

Run 35" inch tires on my lifted F350 and my Duratracs allow me to push snow with the front bumper. In all fairness though I have put lockers in my differentials.

Love them. 2 sets and a combined 120k miles later they are beast! Also I drive it in snow/mud daily highway all around!

These tires are great. Im at 76k miles right now and at 10/32 tread depth. Ive never had an issue with traction in any terrain. They are NOISY, but I drive with the radio on anyway...drowns it right out.

Have these on my 2017 f150 great in snow. pulling my ice shack across the ice these tires did the job with ease. I live in oilfield country and every oil field truck or if you work in the oilfield you have these tires

Amazing in deep snow.. pushed snow with my bumper for miles on lakes all winter and never had issues getting stuck.

These tires are absolutely amazing. I’m doing things in my Toyota Tacoma open dif that I never would have been able to do with my old Jeep with a locker and general grabber AT’s. (Not knocking that tire either, they’re great for the price)

I was stuck up to mu headlights on the ditch in snow, with a stock height chevy 1500 and they pulled me out. Never let me down in the snowy months living in Alberta

Thanks for the review, I'm getting new tires and these have been on my short list the whole time. A little pricier than the others on my list, but I've heard nothing but good things about them. I've currently got the Goodyear Wrangler adventures with kevlar and I can't believe how long they've lasted. Really tough tires, but I want something more aggressive and better for snow too. Keep up the great work

Have set on my 16’ Ram Sport. Top notch on the snow and ice. A bit loud on dry pavement but the grip and look out weigh the noise. Highly recommend this tire.

These tires are amazing on and off road. I have owned two sets of these tires. They are great for mud, snow, rain and of course on the pavement. I would caution everyone that the sidewalls do not hold up well. My first set no problem, second set I sliced the sidewalls on driver and passenger side while off roading the same weekend I got the tires. I had to replace both rear tires. Even though I had a mishap, I love these tires. My rig performed great off road at Barnwell in Texas even with the tire mishap. Be cautious of rocky conditions, but you will love these tires if you buy them.

I loved my Duratracs. It’s cool when in deep snow. The snow just gets pushed to the sidewall!

Had these on my last pickup. They had a little hum but could only hear it with the radio off. Might be worse brand new but once they get worn in a little its manageable. Great in snow. Had to use 4wd a lot less than other tires even on a pickup. Would recommend
@smbmxdirt34276 жыл бұрын
Ya I was surprised how often I didn't have to use 4wd. It was actually harder to do doughnuts in the snow, more gas pedal needed.
@gwood7016 жыл бұрын
They actually get louder as they wear

Ran them on my 2005 LLY duramax and got 50k miles out of both sets and they were amazing from pushing snow in Oregon to sandy washes in Baja Mexico. My only complaint was sidewall wiggle especially towing and noise as they wore but best tire I’ve found in snow and ice that won’t hydroplane in rain like the KO2

had these tires on my jeep, GREAT offroad. handled fine on road, not good in rain

Two years in my Duratracs now. Very good tire and I don't find them to be obnoxiously load. Ram puts them stock on the Power Wagon and Rebel and I see the new Chevy Trail Boss is coming stock with them now as well.

Best all around tire I’ve ever run, and I’ve run a bunch of different tires. Second set on my Cherokee now and I put a set on my 3/4 ton Ram a couple months back. Living in the Reno area we get every kind of weather and I’ve never been interested in changing tires out in the winter months. By the way, when someone makes a quiet tire with traction like these I will buy that one.

Best tire I’ve ever owned. I live in northern Colorado and they take on everything. As long as you keep them rotated and your truck aligned they’ll keep shredding for you.

Just put them on my jk, a little pricey but i love them, had them on my first jeep and now my jk. Had toyo at open countrys prior to these and the duratracs are a little louder but have way more traction and the ride quality is much better. Snow driving isn't even comparable. It should also be noted that they usually run 10 lbs lighter than a comparable mud tire.

Been living in Montana. Some of the worst winter driving conditions anywhere and these things eat snow up. Pulled my friends jeep out of a ditch with 4 feet of snow starting on a 20 degree grade in about 2 feet. Pretty good in mud as well.

It's a 'tweener" between an AT & MT. My buddy that owns three tire shops (& mechanic work) suggested I take off my old MT's (on my 2Dr. Rubicon) and put on the Duratrac's. Road driving is fine (quieter) off road (dirt) is fine and gripping while on rock is OK. After having the tires on for a few years, the tires were rotated and the rear tires began to "roar" while on the highway. It took over a 200 miles or more for that to even out & quiet down. For the 2dr. the tires have been surprisingly nice; I have a 4dr. Rubicon also, but run a true MT on that, which is a wider and beefier tire, for the heavier vehicle.

Run these on my 97 K2500 work truck. Super quiet and great traction. I’ve heard the sidewalls can get thin, but I haven’t experienced anything like that yet. I usually never pull more than 10k anyway, so hopefully no worries in that dept.

Over 40k on f150. Half tread. Good in snow, had them in 6 in of mud. Did fine. I'm buying them again.
