This shit brings back major memories for me! Most of this stuff I skated to! I was really into street skating back in the day and punk music just fit for me! This makes me really miss Minneapolis so bad!

Great episode ! Thanks so much for sharing these awesome stories . If anyone's intetested....interested..... Fresno, CA same time period. We had a great small scene, I dare to say we had the best scene in the whole valley, we definitely had the best local bands! Listen to Capitol Punishments " When putsch comes to shove" and I promise you'll agree , still one of the best hardcore records in existence. We had Harsh Reality, these guys were crazy.. always a violent show, blood on the dance floor type of band.. three of the four members have passed away RIP Steve, Todd, Loren. We had Burning Bob & the Big Boys, Nazi Bitch & the Jews ,RIP Anelle), The Frigedettes, Think Tank, Maniax, Cambodian Kidz, S.A.D. Boys ( shut up and drink), I Madman, Vicious Bunnyz RIP Fat Jerry.. we had those bands among others. Most of our shows were at the local Knights of Columbus hall, bless those folks for putting up with our shit for so fuckin long! We had others spots of course over the years, that place and Cadillac Club were top spots. We had a couple killer record stores, Dale from Capitol Punishment opened Stage Dive records in 85, I begged for a job and worked there for a year or so, I was also a janitor so I usually had money, I bought much of Dale's record collection from that store, I'm talking some of the rarest shit you can think of. Minor threats 7's, Misfits, etc.. all if it long gone, sold years ago for drugs... sigh, live n learn. We had every band you think of play here, all the California bands, Dayglo Abortions, CoC, DRI, Social Unrest... you name it , they played here. Moat of those shows were brought by my great friend Vince , who did more for our scene than anyone. Thank you buddy.. we had punks , skins and long hairs all under the same roof, a pretty united scene, a bunch of crazy ass fresno and clovis kids. Many are dead RIP John, Mark, Dominic, Dell, Steph, Beaver... we eventually pissed the Knights off too many times , and at the end of the 80's the scene took a dirt nap for a while. Which was ok. So many great bands were playing SHIT now, Black Flag,, SSD... ugh. Then about 90 Bad Religion played , and our scene took off again like a rocket. There was a show I think in 91 with local bands and Rancid and Offspring at the Cadillac club, that show seemed to really make our scene pop. So many good times , we got along with pretty much everyone who came from out of town as long as they came as friends. One night we ran The Vandals right the fuck outta town, throwing beer bottles at their car as they sped away, wankers! Same time we had a new record store , my good buddy Paul opened up Ragin' Records , a Fresno staple for years. There's so much more to tell but I'm tired of typing. Thanks for reading , and a big shout of respect to PBS for putting out these killer episodes.

Was hoping to hear about final conflict and there it is, awesome work folks. I found a repress of their 7inch and it's seriously the gnarliest hardcore record in my opinion. The band is great and the singer's voice is just incredibly angry and shredded.

@@TwinCitiesPBS So glad I stumbled upon this as the episodes are going live. Glad to hear there'll be three more - just covering the "old days" or will we see any of Minneapolis' modern day godfathers, Dillinger Four?😉

Risbo Turbide ~ Yeah, Punk & Metal Music have got a lot in common with the violent and aggressive style of rock music. The Hard Rock Scene is like a Big Tree with many different branches, types & styles that came from the original Tree. Motörhead & Lemmy used to wear The German iron cross & other various types of Nazi memorabilia . Like Lemmy Said = “The Bad Guys throughout history always had the best uniforms, we you think about it. They were the Rock Stars of their day” This was to influence large numbers of young people. One of these people was a young man called Ian Stuart. Ian Stuart, Like so many young men dreamed of a career in Rock ‘n’ Roll but when in 1977 he formed Skrewdriver, A Punk Group Based in North West England, No one could have predicted the rollercoaster ride that he was about to endure. With two singles and an album recorded Skrewdriver were heading for the dizzy heights of rock stardom, But when their concerts became battlegrounds & gained the band a reputation that saw them Banned from London venues, Disowned by their record label and slaughtered in the mainstream music press most people would have put it down to experience & shuffled off into a Dystopian day job. it is testament to the resilience of Ian Stuart That against staggering odds he refused to be defeated. This is well documented in the fascinating book called = “The Ian Stuart - Skrewdriver Biography” Nazi Rock Star Records this Historical journey that started as a highly rated punk vocalist mixing with the likes of The Sex Pistols, Bob Geldof, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Motörhead, Sham69, Iggy Pop, Sting from the Police, & Suggs From Madness. Right the way thru to National Front Demonstrators, British Movement Marches, Ku Klux Klan Leaders in the US & Top Skinhead Recruits for the Blood & Honour Organisation that he founded back in 1987. The Record Shops refused to sell his albums, Yet they sold thousands, His Concerts were starved of any publicity, Yet even his enemies would admit that he could easily fill venues as big as the Royal Albert Hall. This remarkable in-depth story traces his early beginnings in Blackpool through to his Death as a National Socialist & Skinhead Legend in 1993. Yeah, we’ve all heard stories about rebellious punk rock stars, But this is a Truly unique account of a Rebel with a Cause, And one who lived through the Pain, Pressure, & Patriotic Pride that was his Life. Even if you Revile this Rock Movement, it’s ideas, & it’s style of music, This is still an important piece of Social & Youth Culture History.

Risbo Turbide ~ Yeah, Parts of this Remarkable Story have been captured in the interesting documentary series called = “SKREWDRIVER” Rock ‘n’ Racism This video footage presents the extraordinary life of Ian Stuart Donaldson & his Band, Skrewdriver, From the early Non political punk days of the Late 1970’s until the Tragic accident of that September evening back in 1993. Viewers get to witness the evolution of Skrewdriver from the punky antisocial tunes to white nationalist rock & patriotic ballads. illustrated with rare images of Ian & his band, Plus live footage of Skrewdriver concerts, interviews with Ian & former band member Stigger and music Videos.
