I’ve honestly never heard anyone explain how to cast a bait caster better than this. Maybe it’s because I know how to do it now and have been fishing with them for years now but I don’t believe so. This is an awesome instructional video guys. Awesome job with this one. I can see this helping thousands of new anglers or new bait caster users that have always stuck to spinning gear.

Another tip, start off spooled with cheaper line (monofilament) like Trilene XL, that way if/when something goes wrong, you're only out $3-5 vs $20-30 for your super lines. -IA

alright, greatest point for me is the lesson on thumb pressure. I'm so used to spinning reels where you let your finger off to cast. so I was reapplying my thumb slamming on the brakes with my thumb. multiple birds nests have been had lol, but I'm motivated after watching this.

I have nodded off to sleep waiting for 10:00 pm to roll around and missed the cast. 10:00am usually isn't a problem though. Sucks when you catch a fish at like 10:13, and then have to wait nearly 12 hours to cast again.

Googan Lab topic suggestion for complete newbies: Rigging soft baits. Which side is up? Light or dark? Or does it matter? I have a worm that's green on one side, red on the other...so which side on top for a wacky rig? It must matter, or it wouldn't be made that way. Some baits are molded so (it appears) you can see "eyes" (like your bandito bug), so I guess that's on top, but some baits' molding isn't that detailed. Appendages: free them up? Trim them? Cut them? Remove them? I've read/seen some anglers dip their appendages in an attractor liquid. Can fish "smell"? Weightless? Texas rig? Carolina rig? Any other rigs? Love your channel. Started bass fishing last summer. Love your finesse rod. Keep up the good work on this channel.

I have a round conventional casting reel and i dont use thumb control and i dont get a blacklash or birdsnest ever! I upgraded to using soley conventional reels about 2 years now and have not gotten a birdsnest. For some reason the low profile baitcasters are notorious for backlashing and thats why you need accurate thumb control. Sometimes you cast correctly and for some odd reason the thing end up in a big mess. If you cast a round reel all you need is to set the spool tension knob to where the weight creeps downward, then cast it with no thumb at all. You wont birdnest

He speaks the truth. Practice is best. And you WILL backlash 1000 times before you get the hang of it. But once you do you'll never want to use a spinning rod again.

Amateur! 😂 A real pro baitcast fisherman uses only one hand to cast and to hold and control the rod and the other hand to reel. To move the rod from right to left and from left back to the right is clumsy and hilarious! 😂
