Dude, in Europe the internet is faster and cheaper.Because almost every place has only 1 internet/tv provider ( except for satellite ) after 2 years i'm paying the equivalent of 500 dollars a month which equivalent internet would cost around 60 dollars in England. It's a bit torrent, the speed relies on your peers, not your download speed. So your 1000 mb/s wouldn't matter.

***** Because Kansas City is flat and dull with the exception of the KC Jay Hawks basketball team. Besides it's fucking cold like frozen tundra cold. Why anybody would want to live there is beyond me but I guess some people are fucking nuts. So while google fiber will be the main reason s/he is there s/he will soon realize that the horrible environment will outweigh the benefits of a 1000/1000 connection, move back to whatever backwater city s/he came from, and wait patiently like the rest of us. Luckily, Google's fiber project sparked some competition as ATT in Austin announced similar type plans in the near future. While this is limited to only Austin, it shows that the big ISPs/content providers are quivering at their feet.

polecya I disagree totally on that assumption. I live in KC you are one mislead, angry person. We aren't THAT flat and dull, being we have the Kansas City Royals doing bad enough to piss us off but good enough to make us proud, we are really on edge. Same definitely goes for the KC Chiefs. We also have Sporting KC, and they are a good soccer team, but i don't really follow that. And not to mention Worlds of Fun, one of the biggest amusement parks around. I'd say the city isn't TOO boring. Yes, it IS colder than balls here, but to say Michigan or Minnesota isn't? Even Nebraska, for God sake?

I install Google fiber in the field. Kansas City is almost complete. Austin TX is currently being serviced and there are many cities coming up. The fiber placement is paid for by advertisement and is placed in areas by request. So if you want Google fiber in your area, you can get it quicker if you get people in your area interested. And you'll keep me working.

Yes Romania Data System provider good service 12 houers in 1 year down time (a car crash went up in flames and burned the fiber that connected the city) all the buildings are connected with fiber (house direct fiber, apartment buildings utp connection from the box) Good speeds 200mb/s down in allmost all europe in us sucks only google provides 200mb download speed in us. 50-150mb in russia and 20-40mb china

I just looked up "Google fiber speed test" on KZbin. According to the video this person posted, they got 966mbps down and 9xxmpbs(can't recall upload exactly) up. That's still pretty fast and very close to quoted speeds. If the video was legit I guess. Of course most of the speeds would be bottlenecked by the other end. So I guess true speeds would vary from actual. That's still fast as hell lol.

my city is starting sign ups for Google fiber right now. they have already started construction here too. my neighborhood is done and they should be done within the next few months. I'm definitely looking forward to getting gigabit internet
