Says nothing to do with AI. This has everything to do with massive declines in revenue, failing projects, people no longer willing to buy $1,000 phones every 2 years, and so forth. AI is not driving this, shitty management is

no ur actually real for this. i dont think they realize that theyve been price gouging and squeezing us for upwards of a decade now. people dont have the same disposable income they had BECAUSE of how these tech companies have impacted both the job market *and* the economy. they spent a bunch of money during the 2010's to onboard ppl onto their services with no real plan for actually making those services profitable, its no surprise that the hen would come home to roost and that eventually they would lose market share. in short, our quality of life has taken a dip because *they* messed up

If you've ever worked in a tech company in Silicon Valley, you'll know that there are many, many redundant jobs and employees who do not contribute at the highest level. So there are always cycles of binge and purge, quite normal. Check out revenue per employee metrics.

As a google ads customer I am not surprised. Google SUCKS to deal with. Their customer service is non-existent and they treat their customers like shit. They are just getting what's coming to them for their HORRIBLE service

You nailed it when you said low paying jobs are plentiful and high-paying jobs are tough to find. That's been the case in our area where tech layoffs have expanded rapidly. The tech industry spent many years hiring redundant workers to avoid their competition from being able to hire them. Unfortunately, these employees weren't made aware that they were a tactical hire instead of a career hire. Their skills languished, and opportunities for growth were lost. Unfortunately, with the combination of a tough economy, the transition to remote work, and the rise of AI either improving productivity of a single worker or outright replacing them, it was inevitable. However, while it's not glorious, there are jobs out there. We need qualified, honest, and hardworking trade workers. We need passionate teachers, medical workers, and first responders. It's not as comfortable or easy (physically) as tech and engineering, but it can be very rewarding with lots of real benefits; including pensions for government employees. You won't be rich, but you also won't ever be poor.

I now bring a revolving door to my cubicle so its more efficient to lay me off and re-hire me on the same day.

I am retired now. In the 80s and 90s, I would get laid off and fired on a routine basis. So you start another company, but it would get big enough to lay you off again. And the cycle continues.
