Google Gives Churches $10K in Free Ads: No Catch?

I’m a Christian business owner. I’ve always looked for ways to offer my time or service at no cost. I’ve considered going the nonprofit route but never wanted the extra oversight and management requirements. This might change everything!

I know that a lot of churches are doing this and we looked into it. However agreeing to this statement is required: "Your organization does not discriminate against any person or group of people in either hiring/employment practices or in the administration of programs and services, including on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity." This was something that did not sit well with me when I was looking into setting this up. Our church holds firmly to the biblical standard of marriage and human sexuality. One of our elders is a lawyer and he confirmed my unsettledness. You are potentially opening your church up to significant issues down the road should anyone ever choose to challenge you on this. I know you guys addressed this briefly in the video but I just wanted to folks to be aware that this is not something that is hidden deep in the T&C's. It is a prominent thing that must be agreed to in order to proceed. For us it is a matter of biblical integrity not just a matter of conscience and so we had to say no. Thank you for all you guys do. I've learned a lot from you in recent years.

man i set up the google grant years ago.but it was hard to spend the budget and get the click through rate high..... this inspired me to try again.

Is this possible to apply for even if your church isn't official filed as 501c3? In Arizona we are automatically considered tax exempt without filing for non-profit

Every region and country has different requirements! How that intersects with Google’s requirements…can’t be sure for every location. Would be worth starting the application and see how it goes.

@@prochurchtoolsshowI had the same question. I know our church association has the 501c3 status. Brady mentioned they helped a church use their association’s status. Any ideas how that would work?
