If I'm not wrong, Firebase doesn't offer push notifications, nor Cloud Code hooks like in Parse, nor analytics... Aside from the realtime capabilities (which not everybody needs and is pricy), Firebase seems a very immature platform.

What about resource storage, photos/videos/files? A JSON store doesn't provide that too easily. It would be cool however, to be able to upload a file as a value for a key in the DB. A progress event when setting a value would be necessary though.

Firebase offers file storage as an extension of static hosting. This comes with the free package. Files can be assigned keys in the database. The progress is kept inside as a value (0 to 100) in the tasks object in the database.

Well, plp tend to say that Firebase is expensive, so I m just trying to see what other BaaS are available. I m not willing to change all my code base when migrating so, I guess what I will do is, take the ParseServer API code that they will open, host it somewhere, Google App engine may be the place since it supports node. Thats what I m thinking of right now. What do u think about that?

I am using Parse mainly for MVP projects and just now starting a major project on it so my migration is not as painful. also, firebase seems to be a big more powerful than parse so I am excited to see what can be done on it. I am having trouble wrapping my head around their data structures

What happens when tic tac toe player A makes his own entries while player B loses his wifi connection. How will the data be synced at that point. Which device gets priority

Hopefully the state of your turn-based tic tac toe board is managed by a server.
