The merger of teams is bad news for Wazers. The new app interface is confusing and the overall reliability has decreased significantly. Waze now often completely jettisons trips in the middle of routes and gives conflicting information. You can literally hear the glitches: "Turn right. Turn right. Turn right." I believe Google is trying to force Wazers to migrate to Maps and that's unfortunate because from a drivers standpoint, I've always found Waze to be a superior app.

I use Android Auto and prefer the visual Google Map but Waze better informs me of potential "problems/obstacles"...

I hate maps in ghe car and find Waze more logical in many ways. The best that Google can do is to devolope Maps for walking/cycling and e- scooters while leaving and enhancing Waze as a full vehicle satnav. Both can live side by side while excelling at what they do best.

It may take several more years, but I think eventually Waze and Google Maps will combine into one app. That will definitely reduce costs for Google. I'm not sure how this will work though. Both apps offer their own unique methods. Perhaps within the combined app you'll be able to toggle your preferences.

I don't think that they will merge waze into Google maps because that will open up a competitor. They will likely just more reliably connect them in the background to allow them to instantly share information from user reports like speed traps and closed roads etc.

I use both. Specifically, I compare and take the route that makes the most sense for me. On average, Google maps has a +15% route time. In this case I go the route of Waze while i continue to watch how Google reroutes. Many times I have followed Waze and once Google reroutes, the Google ETA decreased by up to 15 minutes. Why does Google take such a long route when Google actually know that the other route is a decent bit faster? I follow Waze but with a very cautious analysis of Google to ensure Waze is not going to ruin my trip by taking me in a circle. Like had happened a couple times.

I am a newbie for both apps, but as a general rule Waze is better for older users trying to avoid traffic, police, road closures, etc. Where Waze maybe adds to distracted driving is when a driver has to look at and react to say a traffic accident. In my particular case, that’s distraction city!

The problem with waze is that you have to have a specific adress, while google maps you can just try search for a name of a place/shop and you will get a list to choose from. I so wish google maps could show the speed of the queue.

In Google map, it still tells something like "a quarter of a mile" which I can never get used to, instead of telling how many yards. Can't wait to see Google map can provide this feature.

You need to reconsider and have waze also included in cars that already has google as there infotaiment engine like Volvo. If the you still split the interface and keep the back engine simple supporting both environment then yes it might work. And for the experience of having used Waze since the early days the interface has become already a bit of a mess when to do reporting in a car , this needs to be simpler eg when to report that an issue has been solved. Now it's two buttons with some small text with the same fonts and colour background. Please make this easier . Green or red background where green is solved (car is not there or no problem). Also it not always you want to have the fastest connection but the most senic thats a choice I want to use when on holliday just give to choice and the estimated time for arrival including stops you want to take.

We just finished a trip around the US using Google maps all the way. We did get all the notices of construction zones, stalled cars and police. So I Googled how it got that information. Simply put, it was the information Wazers were providing.

I was using Waze from day one. Excellent app and very accurate. Ever since it was bought over ,its really bad, inaccurate and full of mistakes. Hoping to change to Google Map for navigation. If continue to be bad I will change to something else.
