Google Maps Revealed something...
I found what appears to be an old mining site and around 2005 an item appeared on the site and it looks like it's been there ever since. When going through the time periods on google earth I also found something else not far from the original object.
Once arriving I headed towards the location to see if the item or items are still there, see what it is & was used for. Although this is not a remote site in the woods, this is an area that hasn't been worked or altered in a few decades and nature is slowly reclaiming the area. Eventually this location will most likely be redeveloped and will look completely different in the future.

First trailer was a Storage Trailer. Second trailer was a Lunch/Dressing Room, the screens are windows, screens are security protection. The concrete pad was likely the entrance to the Office Trailer, which was taken with them. You can see the area behind it, where the trailer sat. Start to a project that fell apart, they took everything worth taking and left the rest. It might of been a storage yard for a construction company or a Batching Plant for roadwork, but it's a nice location, so it's more likely a failed project. 20 years back the trailers were a dime a dozen, they still are. I'd guess $500. each back then, not worth transportation or storage costs or the hassle. Funny thing, I knew what it was from the Google Earth photos at the start. A sign that I've been doing this for far too long, 45 years construction. Great videos, thanks very much. Cheers !

@moondawg3693 I think you hit it on the head with the first trailer, but the second one would've been a scale house trailer, the scales would have been between the concrete pads...

@JPVideos At this point, the trailers, at best, are scrap value, which, if you're lucky, would allow you to break even on removal costs. Now, if someone had equipment to remove or break it down and did the work themselves, they might show a profit.

Those old trailers if they would have taken them when they left would have been worth taking to the scrap yard cause they may not look it but a new 48 ft trailer today weights about 10000lbs those trailers being as old as they r there made of steel not aluminum so they would be heavier properly at least 15000lbs each when they left they could have just hooked up to them and pulled them across a scrap yard scale and probably got 500-600$ each for scraping them and only wasted the time to pull them to a scrap yard but they probably got more money by leaving them there

Those trailers were scrap when they moved them in there. No value, and cost more than they're worth to even move them to a scrap yard.

I have seen old trailers like these stripped of their sides, roof, and doors. They are then towed to become bridges across small streams once their wheels are removed. New wooden planks are added to strengthen the deck. I know of one that has been in place for over 50 years, serving a single home. Obviously, it has been repainted and repaired on a regular basis.

Used trailers are not too expensive. Those older trailers are heavier than modern units. I agree that they were no longer useful to use on highways.

I don't think so. The 2nd trailer shown. They are windows with heavy gauge screens with bars attached for security. This is a Construction Dressing Room/Lunch Trailer. The first one shown is a materials and machine storage trailer. There was likely an Office Trailer behind the concrete pad where the entrance was. You can see the space where it was. This was very likely the beginning of a housing project, that hit hard times and fell through. I've been through this for 45 years, heck I knew what it was from the Google Earth photo at the beginning. Cheers !

@@moondawg3693 i'd say they found out the land was contaminated/polluted from the mining activities. you can't build on top of a fly ash dump, it's unstable and subsides. it's possible there's industrial waste used as infill for the old mine workings (irresponsible and illegal dumping of industrial wastes was not an uncommon thing to do back in the day!), a superfund site in waiting! also possible the project was a victim of the 2008 mortgage crisis anyway.

Just a thought I've worked in construction a bit and it would seem they like to turn these old trailers into offices, usually those are the formans trailers. It's also not uncommon for them to have electricity ran to them from a pole much like a house.

Yeah those old generator trailers are there probably because they're obsolete these days. There is an old construction company down the road from me and they have a couple of those trailers with the single axle and windows/vents along the front and they have been rotting in the corner of the property since I can remember. At least 40+ years now.

Any sort of enclosed power generator would not likely have foam insulation exposed. Due to the second trailer having 2 windows and a phone outlet, it was most likely some sort of heated/AC room used as an office or break room. The other concrete pads likely were used for power generators and fuel tanks. Due to the weight of generators, fuel tanks and the soil not being stable, the concrete pads were needed.

Great find. In answer to your questions about the value if these trailers, they are pretty old circa 1970s. The one trailer was a generator unit. Having worked in the grocery store we seen these many times. Honestly these aren't worth hauling them out. If this site is eventually developed they would need to remove a lot of gravel . Thanks again for taking us along.

That second trailer you show JP is very interesting. The phone jack, heavy-duty power outlet. I have never seen something like that, it looks like a work shead type of area. Or could possibly be a generator station, so the first trailer definitely needs a lot of work, which might be to restore it. It's just weird to see those two trailers sitting there. I think it's an awesome find JP, i think it could have been someone's work shed. That second trailer is very interesting for sure.

I wasn't really sure what target number one was, but I was kind of thinking maybe it was a long wooden structure of some sort, not a trailer, so I was way off. That was very cool when you locked us up in there. lol I agree with you, and it was definitely used for storage. It was interesting to see all of the different electrical components of target number two, the generator room. Both targets were really awesome to see and like you said, it's great you have now documented them. Fun to see some wildlife and someone on their motorcycle having a good time too. Sometimes companies will leave equipment behind on the site to indicate that it is still a working site so the state doesn’t come in and try to charge environmental clean up costs.

possibly because industrial waste was used as infill for old mine workings.. a big hole in the ground that needs filling can turn quite profitable if the site's owner is unscrupulous and there's nearby industry that produces large volumes of waste that's difficult to get rid of.. dodgy guy buys old mine site, gets paid to take away industrial waste and fills in the big hole.. push some topsoil over the top and sell to developers and hope nobody notices!

I have an idea on the second trailer. If you think about it, the two concrete pads are roughly the length of a tractor trailer apart. I'm thinking the pads are the remains of a scale to weigh the coal trucks and the trailer was a makeshift scale house. Also the concrete pads have a concrete "curb" on either side tapered inward toward the middle of them as to redirect something between them if they were to misjudge the width of their truck and bump into one.

Frauhoff trailers...All trailer manufacture is based at our 64 acre site in Grantham, Lincolnshire, which is centrally located within the UK. The A1 has recently been connected to the B1174 south which runs west of the Grantham site, also London St Pancras and King Cross railway stations are just over an hours train journey away.

The 2 concrete pads by the 2nd trailer, is where a truck weighing scale use to be. The spacing between the 2 is roughly 100ft and the pieces sticking up on the sides is tire guides to keep from dropping the front tires off the scale.

Fruehauf. An originally german word combination "früh auf" (early up). It was a traditional american trailer manufacturer off Indianapolis. But they went bust in the late 1990s. Some branches in Europe lasted a tad longer and the french branch was sold to poland-based Wielton in 2015. Nippon Fruehauf was founded 1963 with the help of Isuzu. In Germany they had a cooperation with Ackermann - originally a manufacturer of furniture- and moving-trailers in lightweight aluminium construction founded in 1850 in Wuppertal. They had five plants in Germany and were specialized on optimized cargo storage with very lightweight designs, either on trucks or trailers. "Ackermann-Fruehauf" was - for some time - a great name for these type of trailers. Until the others caught up. But Ackermann is still in business.

Hey JP, another great exploration video, as long as it's exploration of old stuff like this, I am game! The only value I see of either of these finds is for scrap. The aluminum skin on the sides and top of the trailers and the steel frame underneath and the wheel undercarriages. Too much work for the average scrapper but if someone else disassembled it and left any of it lay, it would definitely get stolen for scrap. Something I noticed at the 14:00 minute mark is there is an electrical conduit coming up out of the ground and goes up into the trailer. Further observation makes me think it was a work trailer, but it had an office in it, additional electrical outlets in it, the lights and then the telephone outlet. I noticed the big open screened areas had remnants of styrofoam insulation and covering materials over them, as if they were covered at one time and insulated like the rest of the room is, helping to insulate it from the cold in the wintertime and heat in the summertime. The wood partition appears there was a man door at one time and even an opening in the wall for what could have been an air conditioner for the summer months. Anyway, my thoughts are that the power was brought in from outside the building, hence the conduit coming from the ground up into the bottom of the trailer. Power may have come from one of the structures that were probably built on the concrete pads we saw. Just another observation on my part, who really knows for sure? Looking forward to your next adventure!!😀

Another cool find. Those were turkey vultures. When I saw them I was like, is there someone or something dead in the trailer? LOL Glad there wasn't. I'm leaning more towards the second one being an office and workshop/storage with there being a phone jack in it. Why would they have a phone where a super noisy generator was? Wouldn't there need to be a fuel source such as diesel for a generator in which case I would think the generator would be located outside. Perhaps the concrete slabs were for the fuel tank and the generator? Just my thoughts. Thanks for taking us along and for not leaving me locked in that trailer. lol

? I just "found" you yesterday - by this video. Here, you seem to show five view (from Google maps?) of this site. My question is how do you get these older maps? I am very interested as I have a spot that I would like to do this to. If you could help me I would greatly appreciate it. Watched your Smoky roller coaster last night - that sure looks fun. Thanks

I’m not 100 percent on this, but I’ve seen concrete pads spaced like that in pits before. Then in the middle would be an industrial weight scale for dump trucks to drive upon once loaded with fill. That way they knew how much to bill the company that ordered the fill based on amount.

the land is probably considered a Hazmat site and untill they find some one willing to pay to clean it up it will probably stay that way.

No value, they’re junk. I don’t think there’s even enough scrap value to be worth the time & effort to cut it up.

We scrapped a newer semi trailer a few months ago, they gave us $350 for it. So id probably leave them there too.

The problem is disposal of the wood floor,as it's considered contaminated wood, the rest is just ez er to cut up for scrapped metal! Depending on current scrap prices. One looks like steel sides, which isn't with much, and tge one with aluminum sides will bring a few bux,but the disposal of the floor will set you back whatever the fees are! That's why nobody will cut it up,too much loss😊!

Those trailers were probably 20+ years old when they were left there. No value.

@10:51 those tires are gonna explode if ran. they will heat up and blow. as for the trailer itself, it was a fridge truck for J.S. Butchers (8:08). not all fridge truck have cooling units, some used dry ice. And both have black mold so was probably dumped as to scrap it is not worth the cost in a wood bodied fridge truck.

Maybe not your typical explore, interesting still. I don't like that people will use the land in such bad shape. Just pillaged ,then moved on to do the same elsewhere. I understand it's not profitable. Central California watching
