thanks for this video. its great to see finally someone doing the step by step and not just cutting (usually) the most important parts. you even explained every step. I have Vaillant boiler that has 3 - 4 - 5 terminals both on boiler and current termostat (its Vaillant VRT 230) from which the 3 and 5 are line and neutral, and the 4th is basically the switch wire. So If I understand right in that situation I would just need to connect like you did use current wires for line and neutral, and then my switch wire from terminal 4 I can use as you used a gray wire in heat link (think its in number 3 terminal in google nest heat link). thanks again for detailed video

yeah, it's easy enough to skip over bits you understand, but I hate it when people skip supposedly simple bits - I'm usually stuck on something that's obvious to an experienced person

Many thanks for the tuition, I have had a Nest for over 12 months!! Yesterday was the first time the water worked independently to the heating! Yes I know I should have got a qualified all singing all dancing Nest engineer to fit it……but I didn’t and after this informative video it’s all working how it should be! Cheers 👍🏾

Just want to say thank you so much for this video. We had a new boiler fitted with a new nest, sadly the nest was not turning the boiler on and off as it should after watching your video and checking the wiring I spotted that the fitter forgot to remove the red loop that was inside the boiler. Problem solved! We are over the moon 💪🏼

Thanks for the video. My ecotec plus handles both heating and warm water. Does that change anything to the installation? As it seems you only use it for heating, right?

Thank you very much for this video, incredibly useful. I have a vaillant ecotec pro 24, and a nest thermostat 3rd gen. The one thing I did differently was not to remove the u shaped wire link on "Burner off" connector. It then worked like a charm. I must say, am not sure I understand why

Hey thank you for your video! I see I don't have an RT (switch) connection plug in my Vaillant. Does that mean the Nest is not compatible? Thank you

Great video thanks! I need a smart thermostat just for hydronic floor heating. The Nest has fan and cooling options which I would not use, any other simpler alternatives? Also each floor has 7 circuits so I would need to fit 14 connect modules which sounds to be an overkill tbh. Where did you order the nest from?

Have a Nest and want to link it up to a Vaillant eco tech 635 system boiler but already have a Honeywell board installed with loads of wires so don't know where to start. Could get someone to do it but i love to do these kinds of jobs myself and learn along the way.

Always thought it's weird the way you need to use a jumper on the box. Just seems a strange design. Or is it wired differently in other countries / different set ups?

@@advancedboilertraining Thanks for your reply. I've come across something that is different in our boiler. Their are 3 plugs that say, "Burner Off", "24v RT" and "BUS" the first two have jumper cable in them. Do I leave these alone. As I read somewhere that one of these jumpers have to be removed. Do you also heat your normal tap water with the boiler? I have the same and still don't know how to wire the heatlink.. I'm changing the current thermostat.
@advancedboilertraining2 жыл бұрын
If you have a Combi boiler then you don’t need to do any wiring for the hot water. All you have to do is open the tap and you’ll have hot water
@SanderHertogs2 жыл бұрын
@@advancedboilertraining I have the same boiler.. (EcoTec Pro) but an older thermostat already installed, so do I need to 'De-bridge' the 24v DC clamp? for it to work?

@@SanderHertogs yeah, if you have a thermostat then you shouldn’t have a link in the 24V RT. Take the link out and follow the video 👍
