Wow Android sucked back then! Ugly and lagged a bunch. No pinch to zoom? How many times did he press the home button with no response? Now it's just as responsive and still has all the customization features. I appreciate that the iPhone has been around to compete with Android phones to show that you can have a butter smooth experience and that has made Android much, much nicer over recent years. Now the iPhone is starting to copy Android features with quick toggles (ios 7), custom keyboards (ios 8), and finally larger screens on the iPhone 6. They both might become so good that they end up being pretty much identical. Ios needs to open up wayyy more though if they wanna stay in the game and apps on Android needs help with optimization for a consistent experience for as many devices as possible (games!). Plus, manufacturers need to cool it on the skins (Samsung!!) Not trying to start a fanboy war. I'm just being as objective as possible. I currently use Android by the way.

If you watch closely, he was missing it. I thought the same at first. To be fair, it did have some tiny ass buttons! I haven't seen a hint of lag since 4.0 personally, but I stayed away from Samsung's Touchwiz, so...
@LarryLopez91
@LarryLopez91 9 жыл бұрын
benjmiester Ahh touchwiz. I have a galaxy s4 myself. Chose it for the hardware (removable battery, sd card slot, ir blaster, amoled screen). I definitely know now that my software experience could be better after having to deal with occasional touchwiz lag and stutter (it's smooth like 90% of the time at least). I was thinking about an LG G3 as my next phone, but I know they put their own skin on that as well. Hopefully they do a better job of optimizing their software than samsung does. Touchwiz either needs a complete overhaul or just gotten rid of completely.

Larry Lopez Before buying a new phone maybe try to flash cyanogenmod on it or use the Cyanogenmod Installer, that way you can have the stock experience with more customization. :) That will remove everything, maybe even your SD-card (it doesn't do that for my phone from 2012) so make sure to backup. I did this on my Xperia Play from 2011 and my GS3 and they both run super smooth, almost as smooth as my GS5 with touchwiz.

I wouldn't say they lost their way. They just got surpassed badly by the rapid progress from Google. They do have millions of developers in the XDA rom and app scene working to their advantage. I always knew that open source was going to push things further in the long run. Now apple is in a pretty much constant stage of catch up and never seems to bring anything new anymore. Their highlights lists consist of meaningless crap like "thinner and lighter". It was already thin and light, lol. Who gives a shit about another 0.04 mm or whatever! And they rely on everyone else to do everything for them too. Sony for the cameras, LG and Sharp for the screens, Samsung for the guts, even the ones they claim as their own... etc.

@jvasquez9131 9 жыл бұрын
benjmiester you're so right. The iPhone is basically a bunch of companies that Apple hires for all their parts. And they always act like they are the number one. It's how they market themselves that sells products not that they are the best. But people will fall for anything I guess. Hopefully one day they will bring something as new and impressive as the very first iPhone.

***** It depends on how much and for what you use your phone. As a heavy app installer and advanced user (rooting, modifying files, customizing), I defiantly see the advantages of a "flagship" device like my S5. I'm too used to apps opening in less than a sec, and the UI running at 30-60fps so using a phone from 2010 that prob has about a GHz clock speed would be too detrimental for me. However, if that's enough for you, great! The good thing about Android is there are plenty of hardware and price options to match your needs.

Btw Nexus One has 5MP but the IPhone has 5MP with a higher quality lens (that is an important difference) the IPhone 5MP takes higher quality photos and videos. This is a little moot at this point, but I'd like to point out that autocorrect didn't work on the Nexus because he was typing in the Recipient box, where autocorrect isn't utilized (nor would it be utilized on the iPhone in the same field). Also, to the user who spoke against awarding the Nexus a win in a later video against the iPhone 4 keyboard-wise: bear in mind that A. The Nexus was given a fair shot, as opposed to this video, and B. A software update to the Nexus increased performance.

Three mayor differences between these phones. 1-) Built in memory gives you more stability on anything you save in your phone(Iphone). Expandable memory cards are not reliable. They get a lot of errors very often. 2-) Pinching zoom its, and far, the most useful feature on the a touch screen phone. NO pinching zoom is a pain in the ass when it comes to browsing and viewing pics. 3-)Texting accuracy, copy, paste, and magnifying glass make your editing, and texting life easier than ever.

the nexus was such a revolution in technology, it very quickly became equal and then better in terms of overall experience to the iphone in my opinion. as soon as the 2.1 update was released and it gave android multi touch the nexus one became the greatest phone on the market. it barely shows age these days. with android 2.2 and now 2.3 we can see how quickly android has added killer features and not only evolved but revolutionised phones. the biggest being affordable smart phones.

With the iPhone, you have no choice, like I said, it's what Apple allows you to have. Android users are given the choice of installing flash to view high end web pages, embedded video and play the millions of already developed free games. Also, just to make a point, talking on the phone kills your battery, are you trying to say they should remove features because they use power?

there was alot of the nexus features that you didnt utilize well. and i have none of the problems that you dealt with. i think there should be a new video since there was a upgrade in the droid system. (ex:you can pinch zoom on nexone)

The typing test on the nexus one should had been done in the "type to compose" field. Typing in the to file d does not provide auto correction. Mention to type a contacts name or phone number for sms. Just thought I would point that out.

@MrNomSauce Nah the Nexus one displayed the calendar info. The iphone had a lag from when the app opened to when it was actually showing you calendar info

it took several times becuase he is not an android user. its all abt user experience.. and the sensor for the home buttun is primarily designed for the thumb. the thumb has for surface to surface contact and pressure compared to the index finger

@fladoodel They still buy the iphone because of the apps. even though the phone may not be better, it still has just about an app for everything for around 2 dollars

@voteboo You also say the Nexus one is "expensive". Well it is $529 without a contract or plan.. The iPhone 3GS price tag without a contract is $499 - $699 depending on memory size. With a plan the iPhone 8GB ver is $99, the 16GB is $199 and the 32GB is $299. The Nexus one with a contract at t-mobile or verizon? $179..

I thought google was going to make a phone that finally beat the iPhone, then they came out with several phones and I was severely disappointed. The Android software is just...bad. The iPhone is so much more fluid with its motions, and everything is so easily organized and simple to use.

:O just noticed when he types the message on the nexus, he's typing it in the contact bar, which doesn't have an auto correct feature unless there is a contact on the phone called this is a test. so it probably would have corrected his mistakes as well, had he been writing in the message part :P

Why the hell would I lie? Stop accusing people, I'm seriously offended. I don't want junks, haters, and trolls inside my channel to destroy my videos. I've got much more experience in maintaining channels.

The Palm Pre browser is good too. I'm surprised he didn't say that also rivals the Iphone browser. But I'm getting the Evo. Gonna be sweet.

@sweetcheels i did my research. the current on the screeen responds to the specific conductivity or whatever of ur skin. thats why a stylus wont work on the screen. only ur skin or something with similar properties. like gummy bears ( i discoverd that) if the phones not grounded the currrent leaks or something. causing non responsive screens.

I own an LG GM360 mobile which I've had since 2010, and wanted to see how different it is from the higher end competition from 2010, and I see that (in my eyes) it is not a whole lot different. They all seem laggy to me. Then I look at all the new mobiles and tech we have available to us 4 years later in 2014 and think, "Wow. Look at how far mobiles have come. Not only mobiles, but tech in general". The difference between the tech then and now is astounding to me, and really shows me what kind of a jump I'd be making by going from a 2010 LG GM360 which cost me £60 then to a 2014 Google/Motorola Moto G which would cost me £130. Of course, there is a price difference, but that is because newer tech generally costs more, but is more fruitful. I look forward to hopefully buying the Moto G next weekend. If not next weekend, then some later time in the month. It's time for me to spend the money and make the jump to the new mobile market and experience it first hand.

That's purely a result of the lack of video hardware acceleration on Android 2.2 vs the iOS which has had it since day one. The ultimate result was that Android devices needed to get their smoothness through brute force of the hardware. On the flip side, Android was and still today is, a much more flexible and powerful operating system from a functionality point of view. The result is that the iPhone appealed more toward average consumers while Android appeals to tech genuine tech enthusiasts.

When he tested the Nexus One portrait mode texting, he was in the address field and not message. DO NOT judge the auto-correcting capabilities based on his lack of know-how.

This was just recommended to me now. In 2016. That's weird. Also, for some reason, KZbin went all old-timey and displayed the video player in the design it had a few years ago...
