So after watching this and many other videos I decided to replace my battery as well. My screen was not cracked but was hard to see anything on the screen due to everything being white washed and everything bleeding over each other. This is not as hard as it seems. Also I did not have to remove the motherboard or anything other than the inside cover that covers the battery. If I was only replacing the screen then I would not even have to remove the inside cover. You just have to be careful when removing the battery because it’s kept in by glue. A cell phone store was going to charge me $225 just to replace the screen. It cost me $13 for the battery and $75 for the screen both on EBay. I now have a phone that will last for at least a few years.

Thanks, this seems to be a very detailed how to vid. My earpiece speaker is failing so I figured I'd swap out the battery while I was in there. The last phone I fixed, that had a faulty mic I almost instantly regretted not replacing the battery while I had it apart, the battery life started to severely degrade not too long after. Some advice if you're going to attempt this kind of a repair on your own, get a proper tool kit. The tools that often come these batteries are barely viable, and for 20 bucks you can get a decent kit. Also accept that you may destroy your phone in the process, and back everything up. I have a used S9 that I can switch to if things go wrong, but if you can afford to have pro fix it, and you can't afford a new phone, it may not be worth the gamble.

Didn't have the heat gun and still tried this. Ended up cracking the screen after trying to be extremely careful because I did not have the heat gun. I stopped to prevent any further damage. Now I'm left with a bad battery AND a cracked screen. I hate that they make these phones so hard to replace a simple battery nowadays.

I Think no need to remove the Flex charger, mainboard and ect. just remove the battery and use contact cleaner and the heatguns.

FYI when replacing the seal. Do not get over zellous with removing the original seal, I did and scraped away some of the black paint on the screen. I can live with it but wish I would have thought about that.

Changed Battery, Screen and Usb Type C connector.. I tested all functionalities before gluing the screen but unfortunately the camera is not working. When I try to open any app that use the camera it crash. Google camera in particular tell me that a problem has occurred and then crash. Using an app to check the hardware it seems that the rear camera is no longer present. But I did not do anything on the camera and I checked that the connector is connected properly. Any idea on what can I do? Please help . One of the reason I decide to repair my phone was for the camera, and now it's the only thing that is not working anymore :/

I had mine replaced by a professional. When I got home and charged it the screen had turned all blotchy purple with a large blotchy spot in the bottom corner. There was a message on it that the phone had shut down due to overheating. The next day can't even see the screen hardly at all. Looks like spilled ink
