Once upon a time, you could just remove the backplate and change the battery. No critique intended, just a comment on phone design.

One of the saddest things about that is that it *was not* all that very terribly long ago that was how pretty much *all* phone battery replacements worked. You could do the *entire* process with literally *just* your *fingers* being the *only* tool required.

It's evil how they started making cellphones without easily replaceable batteries anymore. What a pain in the ass just to replace a battery or anything. Thanks.

You forgot to remind viewers that the remnants of the thin double sided foam tape should be removed first before the B-7000 glue is applied and be careful of scratching the black border of the glass when scraping the residue off
@integr8er66 Жыл бұрын
Please add to test the screen and battery BEFORE you glue the screen back on. If there is a problem with a connector, or even the screen or battery you just bought its WAYYYY better to know it before you glue it back together.

I plan to do this today, and use a thin bead of clear silicone to waterproof it. Make sure the silicone is non-conductive.

How did you go? Was it worth it? Was the battery good? I'd like to buy pixel 3a for ubuntu touch but I believe battery will be nearly dead. So I wonder if there're good batteries on the market today? aliexpress? ebay? I'm afraid that there will be just old batteries with new stickers, which will kinda work, but capacity will be half and in few months it may die. Anyone was able to buy a good battery?

Hello, I have a question, what is the name for the battery patch you are using to stick it to the case? I'm ordering a battery but it doesn't seem to be included so I will need to buy some on the side. Thank you for your video.

You mean the adhesive ? you can buy iPhone battery adhesive and cut the way you want. That will work. Should be cheap $1-3

Is there a simpler hack where you can tape a new battery external to the phone and have a cable plug to it or will a thin profile power bank attached to the back of the phone permanently connected work?. I dont mind the bulk resulting from it.

A Good idea to try..

I am pretty sure you could find a battery case, which is basically a case with a battery pack built in. Might be hard to find for a pixel since they are mostly common for iPhone but still worth a try.

i broke my screen doing this now the phone is useless. the whole screen is black. dont try it just sell an old phone and buy a newer one. if for some reason you want to try it when running the plastic pry down the sides and bottom it can only go in 1-2mm otherwise it will hit the glass screen and crack it which doesnt put just a crack in the display but disables the whole screen
