[GOOGLE PIXEL 3A FIRST IMPRESSIONS]
The new Google Pixel 3a was announced today at Google I/O 2019, and I think it’s a turning point for smartphones in the U.S. See, while my fellow phone geeks know what a Pixel is and why it’s important … the majority of regular folks don’t. Because it doesn’t matter how great it is to have guaranteed software updates, or a camera that kicks out the most striking photos - if the phone is only sold on one carrier, at the same price as iPhones and Galaxy smartphones with much more eye-catching design, people aren’t going to buy the thing. When I was building this video, the seven-month-old Pixel 3 was on sale for 200 dollars off … but even so, it started at $599.
With the Pixel 3a, Google is changing the game. The camera is nearly identical to that of the Pixel 3, right down to the sensor. The software is the same too, including the squeeze-shortcut for Google Assistant and the guaranteed three years of updates. The phone comes in two sizes just like before. But instead of being available only on Verizon or Google Fi, the Pixel 3a will hit the shelves of almost every US carrier ... and it will start at $399. That’s just over half the price of the cheapest Samsung Galaxy S10, over a hundred dollars cheaper than the OnePlus 6T. If it delivers on its promises, the Pixel 3a will become the new go-to for Android users on a budget. Check out the Pixel 3a hands-on from Google I/O 2019!

Who is still offering SD card options in the age of sealed phones and water resistance (last 4-5 years)? Am I missing something or incorrectly marking time? I do agree 64GB is light but the standard photo handling behavior is to smartly move to cloud so likely not actually a problem unless you are the 1% who walk around with 10 seasons of 50 TV Shows on their phone (and perhaps the Venn diagram of Pixel customers and “that guy/girl” is a single circle come to think of it).

Have the 2 cameras (standard and wide-angle) and a usable processor for this year, 4 Gigs of RAM and a removable battery I'm honestly sad than even HTC gave up on their FULL METAL TANKS I can only hope now that Nokia makes a mid-range truly worthy of their LEGENDARY brand Like literally just take the Nokia 7+, fatten it a bit (bigger battery), replace the plastic back with a FULL METAL UNIBODY, make the corners out of rubber and HOLY SHIT you'd actually have a BLODDY *NOKIA*

That was the case with my m8 and axon7. So louder, fuller sound from one speaker is gold for me. Oh, that's the case with my iPhone 7 plus also, never had an iPhone or iOS device for that matter and had to try it as I like to know about things from my own experience. What is your experience with stereo speakers Michael?

I don't rate those bottom ended speakers with the extra bass, My old stereo front facing stereo HTC One M7 always sounded better than the front and bottom configuration of my HTC 10. Now I've got my Pixel 3, the difference between it and the HTC 10 is extremely noticeable. Sound sound way more 'alive' when it's coming equally from two different sources.When the speakers are mismatched, there's a sort of muddiness I can't really describe.

It doesn’t have the Pixel Visual Core that’s on the Pixel 3. This is why it’s slower to do things like Night Sight shots. Apps like Instagram and Snapchat use the PVC to take better pictures, so you lose out on that too, but if you’re taking pictures on the main camera app first then it won’t change the quality. Other than that it’s the same camera, so I think most people will see basically the same quality of photo, it’ll just be slower to process it. Not sure if the lens is any different, but I haven’t seen anything that suggests it is.

I don't know why a lot of people are saying this phone is "the best value in 2019” and comparing it with phones like the OnePlus 6T or Samsung devices. If all you care about is updates and the camera quality, sure, maybe? But it has a Snapdragon 670, which is noticably slower than the Snapdragon 855, 845, and even 835. It's only got 4GB of RAM compared to the 6 and 8GB standard on most devices of the same price. And importantly, it only has 64GB of storage and no expansion. I don't know. I guess if you're a super causal user, it's a decent deal. But I feel like a lot of reviewers are overselling the phone by comparing it to flagships, simply because the camera is great and it gets updates quickly. The lower-tier hardware specs actually translate to day-to-day slower performance, and you can see this in other reviewers' videos, like The Verge's.

Camera and software updates are important but Mi9 for example scored a higher score than pixel on Dx0 if that matters (maybe its becase it has 3 cameras) and xiaomi phones even on 200$ have frequent OTA updates for at least 1-2 years so i think the gap became smaller now.

I dont think ive missed out on the Pixel 3a even though i would appreciate the slightly smaller display and well....having a pixel.

Google has finally made a killer move with the pixel line after nearly 4 years, and it's great. I just hope that they maintain the 399 price point, unlike other "ultra-budget" flagship killer smartphone brands that increase their prices year after year due to a stifle in innovation. Also, this reminds me of the Samsung and Sony 'mini' and 'compact' line of smartphones, which I really liked.

This is OG throwback to Nexus 5, the pinnacle of value - price - performance. To this day, my favorite phone, ever (out of hundreds I've owned). Google was always ahead of it's time. I love how people are going nuts about wireless charging today saying it's the greatest thing ever. Those poor plebes don't know I had wireless charging on my $299 Nexus 4 LOOOONG 7 years ago (in human years, 1 tech year is at least 10 human). I've had it on Nexus 4, 5, 6 and even 7 - yes, the Nexus 7 tablet had it as well. And they all worked on the original Nexus 4 wireless sphere pad. I've owned Nexus One, Nexus S, The Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7 2012, Nexus 7 2013, Nexus 6p - the only one I didn't was Nexus 5x, it didn't attract my attention and 6p was released alongside it. Anyway, who's with me that Pixel 3a is the Nexus 8 we've been waiting for?

Moto g7 still the top budget phone. Only thing better about this is the camera. If regular people cared about that they would've already bought the pixel 3 over Samsung and apple. But I will say the midrange selection in carrier stores is terrible so these might do ok COMPARED TO OTHER MIDRANGE CARRIER OFFERINGS. Anybody that actually has several hundred dollars to buy a midrange phone can do much better than this for cheaper. Google should've only charged $200 for a plastic phone with huge bezels.

@Techprep23
@Techprep23 5 жыл бұрын
@@danlugo4365 the pixel 3 and 3xl suffer from RAM management issues Google can't seem to optimize Android pie to run on 4gb of ram apps force close mutiwindow issues. Can't keep apps in the background so when you switch to one from the background it reloads like you just opened it for the first time Some Apps on the 3xl don't utiize the full screen Bluetooth issues especially in the car. Sometimes it loses it's connection or just shuts Bluetooth off on it's own Google phones have always had issues with Bluetooth. But every other OEM doesn't seem to have an issue. The second notch glitch some have had where the phone adds a second notch on the side of the display. One was bad enough. But the 3axl doesn't have a notched display. Honestly these designs of the 3a and 3axl are what the 3 and 3xl should have been with the snapdragon 845 and at least 6gb of RAM. For 400 dollars you are better off with an older Galaxy phone unless you take a metric fuck ton of pictures. You can't beat the pixel camera for 400 dollars with night site for low light pictures or what ever Google calls it The only thing hindering the 3A and 3aXL is the snapdragon 670. Should have been the SD710 and the 4gb of ram. Should have been 6gb.

I literally just bought a Pixel 3. I've been waiting months to see what the 3a would be and at what price. In the end, there's currently a great deal of £489 for the Pixel 3 in the UK (For reference, the Google Store Price is £739 for the 3 and £399 for the 3a) so that was a massive decider. So for £90 more, the Pixel 3 was the final winner. Happy to pay that extra for front facing speakers alone but the other differences helped too. That's not to saying the 3a won't do well. It's a great device and finally one company has worked out that £500+ smartphones just don't sell well these days. £500 is now my aiming point and I will buy the best that comes closest to that magic number. It could easily have been the 3a if Google themselves didn't pip them to the line.
