Also, might just be me, but NO ONE pays full price up front for the phone and the monthly leases (which most companies use) differ in maybe a couple bucks here and there which I find too small a difference to really care about given you'll still be paying 30-40 a month for each high end phone. Or if price is what's holding you back and if you're in the US, you can just wait until Black Friday. Unlike the iPhone, Pixels always go on sale around that time. Instead of Ultra wide, just use panorama mode. Want to save battery life? Turn off the 90hz. Google plans to fix the face id in a future patch These Pixel reviews always seem to start and end the same way each year. Tech reviewer bashes the phone, calls it anemic and too expensive, Google sends out a bunch of updates, and then those same tech reviewers are highly reccomending the phone as the GOAT a year afterward, saying it's a "much better buy than the pixel successor". This has happened with the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 3. I would have no doubt that these same guys whining about it now are going to be praising it once black friday hits and the price drops.

@Sharky1655 жыл бұрын
@@KazeSword I'm also a Pixel XL owner and fan, and took a long hard look at the 3aXL. Unfortunately, I just find the combination of the SD 670 SoC, the 64GB-capped, slower (Emmc) storage, and the plastic, non-water resistant chassis with a cheaper Dragontail glass screen to be deal breakers -- even at $480. Keep in mind that it's also missing Visual Core *and* the unlimited uncompressed uploads to Google Photos for 3 years that Pixels 1, 2, and 3 had. So IMO all these compromises kill the value proposition of the 3a/3aXL. I don't hate them, but they are overpriced given the budget/midrange specs & limitations. Very arguably a downgrade, if you're coming from a 128GB Pixel XL.

When comparing iPhone to Pixel and the price, people always forget that the iPhone has a much longer life, most iPhones get updates for 6 years. When you think of it that way, apple better justifies the price. 3 years of updates on Android simply isn't enough anymore.
@AnthonyGale5 жыл бұрын
@1Eluzai it's still 3 years. And apple has changes their stance on the issue you pointed out. I have an original pixel and it's almost unusable on Android 10. I have an iPhone 7 for work, released the same year (2016) as the original pixel, it's running iOS 13 and performance is not a problem at all. The performance is the same as the day I got it. I'm pretty confident that everyone will agree that a Pixel only last about 3 years. When paying $1000, this is unacceptable.
@AnthonyGale5 жыл бұрын
@1Eluzai nope...I haven't had to do anything with my iPhone. That's the point, I know lots of people that still use iPhones that are 3-4 years old. I know no one that uses their original Pixel because it's so unusable and I know 7 people that all had the original pixel. Regardless, I'm not sure why anyone would argue that a $1000 phone should only last 3 years. We all should be asking the manufacturer to support it longer. I'm not talking about security patches either, it should get major updates. I think the iPhone 5 is eligible for iOS 13. Name one Android phone that can say that? Also the LTE has always for me been bad on the Pixel meaning that off wifi battery life drops quicker than my iphone. If you just use it indoors on wifi with low brightness like in tests then it may be average and I have seen some tests like that. But if you see reviews where people have used them as a phone when they are out and about the story is different and if you force 90Hz then you may not even get 4h on the Pixel 4. I tried one on display in my local phone shop, I wasn’t impressed at all. I was only using it for a few seconds and it just lagged big time. I swiped up on the screen about 20 times and after about 10 seconds eventually the multitasking window came up. So I carried on playing around with it, until it locked up again, at this point I turned around and walked out of the shop. Not a good first experience of a pixel for me! Perhaps there was a hardware or software issue with the display phone, I don’t know?

I just pre-ordered mine, upgrading from my original Pixel XL which my only complaint over the years is the battery drain. With Verizon offering 1/2 off with trade in, I couldn't really argue with paying $450 for a Pixel 4XL.

I am confused here. You mentioned that the unlimited storage is not offered in this version compared to the past models, but the google store site says otherwise. ⁵Pixel 4 / Pixel 4 XL: Google Photos offers unlimited online storage for all photos and videos uploaded in high-quality. Photos and videos uploaded in high-quality may be compressed or resized. Requires Google Account and internet connection. Data rates may apply. g.co/help/photostorage
@sauerdaniel5 жыл бұрын
The key difference is the "high-quality" wording. For Google that means they will compress your photo in a way which is almost unnoticeable. This compares to unlimited "original quality" photo uploads which do not change your photos in any way, which was available on previous pixel phones. Google offers the unlimited lesser quality photo upload option to everyone on any device (on which you can install the Google photos app) for free.

So here's a little story, i got a Note 10+ currently. And i don't know if i'm just unable to use it properly but since it's often taken as a comparisson to the pixel 4 here's some experiences. Camera out of the box.. man the pictures just don't look good.. i often pull out the 2 year old iphone X and it does a way better job. The battery is massively bigger yes, but still doesn't last. The Punchhole looks nice, but the ambient sensors are there too.. so gaming in Landscape mode covers them all the time and the screen dims so much that i don't see anything on the phone. Furthermore everyone talks about the ultrawide i get it most have it and if you use it it's cool and all.. but for a personal reference it's garbage. And yes the curved screen looks good.. but is useless and annoying. The 3-D laser Scanner thingi on the back.. greatly advertised.. never worked.. again maybe i have a faulty device or just too plain stupid to use it.. no idea but still this is my experience with it and that's why i get rid of it..

The 90 Hertz display problem that it has dropping down to 60 hertz all the time is a huge Downer. I'm assuming that can probably be fixed with a software update. I know you can manually force it on in a developer options but that seems pretty annoying.

The battery is the real deal-breaker. Hardly anybody will notice the difference between an 855 or 855+ Snapdragon, or the difference between 6GB or 8GB of RAM. Most people don't even exhaust 64GB of storage. The software experience makes up for those, easily. The design is subjective and the camera bump is something you get used to. But the battery life? That's one hell of a weird way to cut corners. This is one of the very first things you notice after one day of usage. Nobody needs that squeezable frame, yet it occupies space on the inside of the phone. Remove it and have a larger battery. I would have expected them to optimize battery usage to last a full day, but apparently, that's not the case.
