Totally. Samsung loves to make their features look good on paper, but (for instance) their 5mp macro or 5mp ultra-wide lenses simply look garbage IRL. Their 5mp ultra-wide lenses are literally extras from Samsungs European motor division back-up safety cameras. The photos (and more so videos) they take are garbage. They don't care much about user experience, as long as it looks good on paper. I was a huge Sammy fan for years back, but their devices (and more so, software) have gotten to be all flash and not much substance.

This is the best 6a review I have seen yet.. and the main reason for that is that you view the phone from the perspective of someone who would actually buy the phone. A lot of other reviewers are looking at it as a tech geek.. It's really refreshing to see someone who understands the consumer who is looking at this phone.

Been using a 6A for about 10 days and am really enjoying it. I think you made some great points in this video that reflect my own experience. I'm coming from the Pixel 4a so this definitely feels like an upgrade while still providing a familiar experience. Side note: I was pretty shocked by Google's preorder trade-in offer where I picked up this phone, plus the Pixel Buds A, for $150 after trading in my 4a 🤯 Definitely a no-brainer!
@CptNogg2 жыл бұрын
agreed, the trade in is what hooked me, they gave 300 for my 4a and gave the pixel ear buds for free, so in the long run the phone cost me 180..still disappointed but mostly with bugs ive experienced and the screen finger print reader, it is much less accurate. then the back side reader

The only real reason I bought this phone was for the size I've been carrying around a 6.8 inch phone for the longest time now and when I went to Best buy to feel it in hand it was so refreshing and I really wanted the iPhone 12 mini because it was around the same price currently but the battery life on that one just seems not nearly as good as it will be on the pixel 6A. I was very close to getting the pro or even the regular six but the 6A size is just perfect. If your dad is okay with big phones you should get them the LG v60 it has the best headphone jack around and a great battery life and great screen brightness and all that stuff that's the phone I have now and I'm going to keep it too because I love it so much it's just pretty big so I'm going to use it secondary to my pixel 6A.

I recently purchased this phone for my mom, who uses maybe 10% of the smart features on smartphones. I have an S22 Ultra and while setting up this phone and using it for a bit, it's honestly such a good phone and it's $370 right now new. Sure, it doesn't do anything better than the S22 Ultra, but it's almost 4x less expensive and the processing power is honestly astounding. The display quality is probably the biggest drawback but it's still really decent.

IV had this phone for a week now and it's been flawless. I'm running the Android 13 beta and those improvements along with animations that are iphone level smooth. I'm coming from the iphone 12 mini and the flip 3 so i prefer compact devices and the 6a has the better battery by a long shot out of the 3. Charging is definitely slow but I can make it the whole day without a charge and i can't say that for the flip 3 and mini. 60hz has been no issue because the OS has been so smooth. I'm just not sure if the smoothness is from Android 13 thing or pixel UI. Could be both but I recommend this phone

@Boogie_the_cat2 жыл бұрын
Yup, smooth interface, no problems here with the fingerprint scanner, and I prefer better battery life to 90hz refresh rate. I think people nowadays have the tendency to get all hoity-toity about their phone specs, and look down on any phone with lower specs than their flagships, and they totally ignore the fact that not everyone can afford a flagship phone. Also most people coming from a midrange phone to the 6a probably only experienced 60hz with their old phone (unless they are coming from a really recent midrange, or from a flagship) so the 60hz will not be a "downgrade". And again, the OS on the 6a is slick as owl poop. I don't care if my phone can't record 8k video. What would I watch it on? And the filesize? 128gb for 12 minutes on my mom's Galaxy 21FE. 12 whole minutes, huh? Sounds......useful..... Right?

There are a few minor bugs that annoy me, like the OS forgetting some my notification privacy settings, but then I remember the iOS 16 bugs weren't much fun either. I Traded in my Pixel 4a for the 6a after 2 years of use of the 4a. The 4a when I bought it was $350 brand new. Google gave me $300 for my 2 year old Pixel 4a towards the Pixel 6a. If you upgrade phones about every 2 years like everyone used to with their phone contracts, the Pixel line will give you SO MUCH VALUE for your used phone towards a new one. It's almost impossible not to do it. So basically I got the Pixel 6a for an aging budget phone + $150 dollars.

I like Pixel phones - particularly the ones that are not carrier locked and thus free of junkware and you can root them pretty easily. I'm always several generations behind on phones - right now on a Pixel 3 which actually does pretty much what I need it to do. I might upgrade to a 5 for the camera, so a 6 is a far way off. The only thing that would be a dealbreaker for me is the wireless charging - that's a convenience I just won't miss anymore. Well, my refurbished Pixel 3 still works fine and probably will for the next year or two and then I can think about a 5 when that comes down to under $100 - which is my spending limit for a phone.

as someone coming from a Pixel 3aXL with a rear fingerprint sensor, the in-screen fingerprint sensor in the 6a is not slow at all. It's every bit as fast as the rear sensor on the 3A was, maybe even faster. You DO have to get your finger/thumb in the right place on the screen, though; in that respect it's not as slick an experience to use as a rear sensor that is detented where you can feel the edges of it.

Whne you've been a gamer for a lot fo years, you know there's more to a device, or app, or game than its specs alone, optimization is just as, if not more important than the product itself. I traded in my absolutely wonderful Samsung A71 5G(no complaints at all!). That phone did everything I wanted it to do, but was a tiny bit too big for my EDC carry pack, and didn't have great water resistance, other than that...perfect! Using a case and screen protector, like 90% of people do, gets rid of most of the 6a's issues right away. I am blown away, at the ease of use just the tiny difference in size makes! I do have one complaint, that isn't an issue, it GETS HOT!!! Not just playing games, but with regular use, solved by the cover, but it's still getting hot, I'm just not having to deal with it, that's still a concern. Fingerprint reading is many times better than my Samsung, the samera is far inferior, yet SOMEHOW...with Google magic, I don't know, gets just as awesome pictures! No regrets, and sorry for the long post.

Agree mike..been using pixel 6a for last 2 mos and has flagship level performance with great cameras!! Super snappy without any stuttering or lags!! Pics come out great regardless of light conditions. Speakers are super loud especially if you use an equalizer app from play store. I like plastic back as it makes phone lighter and won't shatter. I guess a disadvantage is if you're looking for a big screen .... only 6.1 inch and it's not as bright as a Samsung or a Motorola phone.... one major beef I have with this phone is its sucky fingerprint sensor!! It opens phone at 1st attempt only half the time. Another major disadvantage is the very slow charging time. Currently I'm using a moto Edge 2022 and I prefer that phone but pixel 6A is still fantastic as my backup phone

The drawback for all Google phones is the screen brightness. I have no problem with 60hz but I have always returned a Google phone after using it for the trial period because of the brightness problem

Pixels have terrible screen brightness. One of their major weakness. My pixel 6 screen is useless when outdoors, adaptive brightness isn't great, that's when it works. I have it on max all the time ,even then it doesn't seem bright enough 😑

I have a p6p and I gotta say I miss having a reliable 3.5mm. I use a pair of moondrop Kato for regular listening and the intermittent USBC dongle is just not good enough.

Was looking at the specs... The 60Hz display was a bit a bummer... But im coming from 60Hz like you said... And I just ordered the 6A for 344 USD... Doubt that some other Brand can beat Bang per Buck on this device... Really excited to try a Pixel.. was 8 years on Xiaomi now.

Price alert for Pixel 6a: Until Sep. 24 (2022) there is enhanced trade in value. Pixels 3a or newer for $300 and up or other phones like Galaxy A71 at $300 or iPhone XR 128GB at $290. Way more than you could resell these phones for. That's only $150ish cash for a new 6a. I'm trying to decide if I should trade in my XR or 4XL.

That's one of the things that let pixels down, their screens. I have a pixel 6 and the screen isn't great 🥴

Had this phone 2 days now. Day 1 GPS stopped working. Maps simply would not track my location. Turned off precise location and it seemed to fix it but we'll see. Twice now Google apps have frozen when attempting to open (remember I've only had this 2 days) not at all impressed so far. I'll give it a couple more days before I return it as defective

Just the video I was looking for. I need something for real estate video at a reasonable price that has 60 fps and ultra-wide lens. I'd love an iPhone but out of my range I'm afraid. How far behind the iPhone is this especially for dimly lit interiors? My wife's iPhone 12 shoot lovely video. Thanks for this.

Month and a half with this phone. Big problem. One day started acting like it was on airplane mode and stopped receiving calls. After restart things went back to normal, but I missed important calls. Now is sitting in a drawer and would recommend.

Agree with everything except the display. Plenty good phones under 450 have high refresh displays like the Motorolas, they even offer "pixel like experience" so many people go for them instead of a Pixel. 60hz isn't a big deal to be as I'm not a power user of phones but instead of PCs so I would be fine with it but most people want at least 90hz especially 450 is a lot for just 60hz
@jonathanferrell35512 жыл бұрын
I got my 6a for $150 because Google offered a $300 trade in credit for my 3a plus a free pair of earbuds. That's what I originally paid for it. It appears that that you can still get $300 trade in credit when you buy the 6a directly from Google. That makes the 6a the best bang for your buck on the market.

Best of both worlds to get an engineer background and real world perspective. Thanks. My 6A is adequate, and I'll get used to it over time. Was surprised to see I'm getting a 5G signal using Visible. The two main reasons I prefer my 4A are size and fingerprint sensor. The 6A is just enough bigger than the 4A to be annoying; the 4A was my perfect size. The 6A fingerprint, compared to the 4A feels amateurish and bumbling. It's also effective only about 50% of the time. Battery life on the 6A is probably 20 to 25 percent less than my 4A. I got the 6A because of the trade-in deal and to extend my support a few years. Overall, I'd rather have my 4A. Thanks again for a useful vid.

I love the rear fingerprint sensor on my 5a, it's baffling to me that they decided to get rid of that in favor of a crappy under display sensor

I traded in my old 5a and ordered the 6a on the Black Friday sale. Wound up getting it for free since I got $299 trade in for the 5a. I gave my first 6a to my brother and it is an excellent phone for the price. At $449 it's a good deal but at $299 with a trade it's a steal. The Pixel 6a is a true flagship killer. It isn't perfect but it gets the basics right and has a ton of features.

How's battery life compared to the 5a? I hurried up and got the 5a when the 6a came out due to worries of the battery life hurting with the different setup.

One things nobody talk in review. It's a good phone with a big lack for dual sim phone. If you have a personnal and bussiness lines, go with an other brand, Google didn't have dual ringtone option. For me it's the reason why I will keep Samsung or Xiaomi.

Hello from Portugal, this is one of my favourite phones this year, but i also have a good feedback from the Samsung s21 FE...which one would you think os the best value for money? Here the pixel os 450 euros and the Samsung about 510 euros...keep the good work! Cheers
@hectorbarrera79532 жыл бұрын
The pixel takes the better picture but if you don't mind that the fe's are not bad and offers a better and larger screen with last years flagship specs with 120hz giving you better performance. For 60 euros more I would go for the FE
