3:51 The resolution is misleading. In contrast to Pixel 8 Pro/7 Pro, the Pixel 9 Pro always uses analog binning at 10x-30x, if you don't use the 50 megapixel mode. This results in only 2.5 megapixel dng files at 10x, which have far less detail than the 11.4 megapixel 10x dng files of the Pixel 7 Pro. For the jpgs Google uses machine learning in order to compensate for the lower resolution, but this becomes obvious when you take photos of a distant sign because machine learning can not produce information out of nothing and can not really compensate for a lower resolution. Also, the maximum resolution of the selfie camera dng file is 10.0 megapixel, there is no high resolution mode for the selfie camera. Google doesn't seem to use the high resolution at all (which could have made the selfie camera slower) and always seems to use analog binning (not to be confused with downsampling) and with analog binning enabled, you simply get a 10 megapixel Bayer sensor with 40 million microlenses.

Most of my latest phones have been Motorola's (except for a Redmi Note 8) because they used to be really cheap around here but this year I decided to switch to Samsung because I wanted a better camera and Motorola rarely gives you more than 2 or 3 OS updates. I'm pretty pleased though I miss the Moto Gestures, it baffles me how no other company has copied that. Aside from that Motorola's are pretty similar to stock Android.

im on the pixel 8 pro and im happy with it beside the fingerprint and sometimes e few studder when u switch between apps. but all in all its great... but im back from vacation and my gf and i put all pics we've made into an folder, she has a iphone 14 pro and special pics we have made on the beach are not that good on the pixel 8 pro. dunno what is happening there, there is a lack of details. water looks not good. the images on the small screen seems to be okay but on a reguler 1080p 24" monitor the pictures are not accurate as other pictures i have shot (landscape, food, mountains etc). the iphone 14 pro photos looks in all settings more like the original. we have booth made a lot of pictures within a sunset in the morning and in the evening. the pixel 8 pro delivered in compare to the iphone a bad quality, colors are all over the place and reflections kills most of the pictures. i dont know what is going on exactly in that department but i guess the pixel 9 pro would have the same problems and the iphone 16 pro would have improve the quality. i mean... im not that photo dude who snaps a lot of fotos but a vacation is one reason for pictures and im kind of bit disapointed there. im also not a iphone fan, never had one my gf buys only iphone but only when needet, she came from iphone 9 before. i wait untid the pixel 8 pro dies and what the market has to offer then. but at the moment i guess my next smartphone would be an iphone but maybe google made some jumps. time will tell. i hoped the pixel 9 pro would bring changes on the table, maybe next or the next, next gen. and i hate the design of the pixel 9 pro.

My son has the 8 pro. I have an Honor Magic 6 Pro. The pixel is a much nicer phone to use & hold than the honor. However, in all the scenarios we tried, the honor takes better real world photos - normal point & shoot, portraits, wide angle, low light, fast shutter shots of animals, kids etc & zoom to 5x. The pixel only has better video with slightly clearer sound & better AI. If the pixel 9 pro/xl has not much better photos than the 8 pro then I'll stick with my honor protem.

@@FreedomEagle0 well pixel 8 pro is after one year of updates, so they managed to improve video quality, defo wasn't great when phone was first realised. I preordered pixel 8 pro and remembered that video quality wasn't the best. My friend owns pixel pixel 7 pro and when we are comparing it to my 9 pro xl , the difference is big. From the selfies , sharper and better in low light telephoto, much better ultrawide, and definitely better main(better low light,less lens flares, slightly more details and better colours). No idea about what downgrade you are talking about.

@FreedomEagle0 People give iphone a hard time because they feel like the innovation isn't exciting as it use to be. Its not to say they dont have meaningful upgrades. Pixel 9pro definitely has improvements over the 8 pro but yes nothing crazy. For me the new rounded design is actually more comfortable in your hand which you notice solely without a case. The modem is 1000% better, the finger print sensor is awesome along with better thermals. Screen is also noticeably brighter in sunlight and Better battery life. Beyond that theres not much difference.

3:50 There is no evidence for multi-directional autofocus. Actually, there was a rumor that the periscope camera has the same sensor as the selfie camera, which has dual pixel autofocus. The Pixel 8 Pro's periscope camera doesn't have multi-directional autofocus either (not even dual pixel autofocus) and the selfie camera of the 8 Pro already offered autofocus!

@@steveguy3 no, I'm not going to blame a reviewer (at least not them) for my purchase. My comment is ultimately a compliment, not necessarily a complaint. I think they are so good and so thorough that they would have caught the things that make the Piel Fold so bad. I was waiting on their review, but went ahead and bought it months after release based on some other people's reviews. Those others aren't as thorough or even scientific about it as GSMArena. These people don't get caught up in hype. And I'm not exaggerating when I say the original pixel fold is bad. Unless they're running a special, regular trade-in value for it at Best buy is a $60. It was an $1,800 phone. If they don't end up reviewing the Pixel 9 Pro Fold at all, I'm going to take it as a sign that no one should buy it.

I have both phones. 9 pro XL is a big leap. The screen is much better and haptic feedback on the 9 pro is better. I prefer the responsiveness on the 9 pro also. Don't get the 8pro unless it is heavily discounted. 9 pro XL is a big leap.

The shape of the phone doesn't really matter that much if your going to put a case on it. I found the round slippery edges of the P8 pro annoying to hold. Felt like I was gonna drop it any second.

@@SirMorak well my point was really once you put a case on the P8 pro, it thickens the edges and it's more squared off and feels better to grip. It depends on the case though. The P9 pro XL is already squared off and feels comfortable to hold without a case.

The Pixel 9 pro XL copies design from IPhone hence has lost its identity. The screen brightness is not looking brighter than 7 pro. The touch sensitivity in the corners is not seems to be same as in the middle. Front camera is better than the previous version.

Pixel 9 pro definitely gets brighter than the 7 pro outdoors in sunlight. Much more viewability. Don't mix up manual brightness with peak brightness.
