Great video! I was really curious about what drawing on this was like, since Google didn't really advertise the stylus support as a feature. Could you also consider checking out the Mi Pad 6 and what their second generation stylus is like? They've made quite a few claims like having a 150 hour battery on the stylus etc etc., but I'm yet to see a good review video on it from a drawing and creative use perspective. Thanks! As far as the speaker stepping up or down. Keep in mind this was really designed to work within the Google home framework. If you have that running you can set the home speaker volume to your preference. I imagine without it, it would default to the system. I would be curious if someone could verify this though. As I'm only theorizing.

I've been waiting to hear your perspective on this tablet. I use that pen to draw on my high-end Chromebook and it sounds like it performs exactly the same on both. I'm used to it because it's all I know, so the lag wouldn't bother me. My house is also full of google smart home stuff so I may have to pull the trigger.

I think Google could be really successful if they managed to make a decent tablet targeted towards beginner digital artists, at a decent price point that's mid range or more of a low range price point. I myself am wanting to get into drawing on a tablet but I am put off because of the price and that I also have a bunch of paper that I feel like would go to waste if I buy a tablet, but mainly it's the price of getting a decent tablet to draw with while being in my price range.

What’s the price you want to pay? The tab s6 lite is pretty cheap and has a good drawing performance. The Lenovo chromebooks have the same pen as this, and they can clock in at $200. A second hand iPad 7 or 8 is still a powerful tablet compared to the lower end mid end tablets. For beginner digital artists these are all good. The tab s 6 lite especially when it’s on special. You can’t expect iPad Pro or tab S level performance for bottom dollar, but digital drawing tablets have been good for almost 10 years now. And that tech today has trickled down to lower end devices. And if you could make artwork 10 years ago, you can today. $200 or even $300 is very reasonable for a computer you can carry and draw on. I think price isn’t an issue anymore. If people aren’t buying drawing tablets which is fine, maybe you just aren’t that interested in it.

Observing Google's attempts at boarding the tablet market, the new Pixel tablet surprisingly doesn't support proper optimization for many applications (Watch MKHBD's review) just like the previous tabkets Google has made. Seems like they still haven't figured out the main problems and concerns regarding to why they keep failling in the tablet market. Google doesn't take the time to get developers to change their apps or customize the OS in general. Everyone's eyes are focused on the latest iPads, even with the newest Android tablets going on sale. So good luck to Google!

It's always good to have more competition. In this case it's still a good tablet with lots of ram (something a lot of vendors skimp on and a lot of android users fail to realize they actually need a fair bit of. 4gb just will not cut it today outside of light use). Little sad to see the shoe stringing on those lines though. But to me that's better than wobble. I'd rather clean up the ends than the whole line.

I'd get the tablet without the speaker and use it for school or general media use. I favor any tablet with mobile connectivity capabilities, because I don't always want to connect with an unfamiliar wifi network.

Feels like they're throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks. It's a tablet with a home speaker/charging dock, but doesn't offer a refined software experience to take advantage of that. It's plenty powerful enough for emulation and other power hungry apps, but doesn't market itself like that. It has pen support, but doesn't come with a pen or even really mention such functionality. This is classic Google: either committing too hard to a gimmick nobody asked for or, in this case, not committing hard enough to any specific marketing angle- all so they can blame the consumer, shit can the project and move on, leaving the people that bought the product in the dust. It's infuriating I'm with you, Brad. Let samsung come out with a proper speaker dock attachment for their Galaxy tabs and we'll actually be cooking with gas Edit: this isn't to say there isn't a lot of good with the pixel tab. I WANT to want one so badly because I could see myself getting a lot of use out of a hub that enhances my creative and consuming habits, but I just don't trust Google to know how to provide that for me in a way that just works

They can keep their crappy speaker and drop the price. All computer tech corps need to just forget about their ideas about speakers, cuz they all suck at it. Then focus on high quality sound cards and signal output quality. Leave the speakers and amplification systems to the user to choose quality hi fi from companies that know what they are doing.

USI is garbage. Wacom is still the best Pen tech. Every other manufacturer ought copy or license EMR tech. Apple won't because they can charge a premium for their landfill pens, but all these other companies are opting for the literal worst option. I wouldn't write with a USI pen, let alone draw with one.
