I like android tv better. For one main reason on Google TV you cannot remove apps from the home screen. There are apps that I want to keep but don’t use daily basis like on the Nvidia Shield . You can remove apps from the home screen, but they are still in your device.

It's better if it's a computer where you have everything and you can do it your way. Google TV forces you to use what they want, not what you want

this video could not come at a better time. I have a tv with android tv built in but noticed it seems to be getting slow. Not sure if its just the remote needs new batteries or the tv is slowing down. But i have Chromecast 4k on every other tv in the house. So may get a chromecast 4k for the tv with android tv built in as it may preform better But this gives me a better understanding.

Why not just hook up an android box ... 4Gb/32Gb or maybe a 64Gb storage box ... put your own custom launcher on it ..... a few apps and you have it setup to your own liking rather than some corporate setup. You can have the apps set up the way you like and a custom wallpaper ..... it never interfaces with the GoogleTV set up. Works for me.

Android tv is better in my opinion. Google tv is restricted and forces you to use it as Google likes. Its also like ads machine. We cant sort apps bar or row as we wish. Its un customizable.

Nice job. Google TV is surprisingly awesome. In the Apps Only mode, you get Roku-like simplicity, with a few superior apps. I still prefer custom launchers, though. Just ordered a Google TV, and I'm excited.

I have Google TV on my Hisense TV and I also have an Nvidia ShIeld. I have seen more problems with Google than Nvidia in my opinion. Google will lock up and I have to reboot to get it to respond again. It also will sometimes just kick me out of a program I am watching and go back to the Home Screen. I also have a Firestick 4K and Roku devices that seem to work better than Google. Anyway that’s my experience?

That Firestick is most likely what's been kicking you out of programs mid stream. It's a well known long term issue.

both can install moded app.. i used google tv i used moded apps..the only problem of google tv is the way to sideload and install it.. you need to install the localsend apps on both android phone and on your google tv. you need to download it from your phone and send and install to yout tv.. google tv restricted the download of apps on its own browser..

The Google TV processor is excellent, however it seems like if we migrate away from Android TV we'll end up with a censoring advertisement machine in our living rooms... I expect that eventually every time you turn on a Google TV it will start up with personally picked ads with "BUY IT NOW" buttons. All the ad free apps have shifted and now make you pay for them to be ad free.

I got the Hisense 4K android TV and it the worst TV I bought. The blue tooth keeps crashing so i shut it off. Every time i fully power it down it internet connection gets all wonky and i have to get in the system menu and turn it off and back on. The TV constantly crash after about 2 hours of use. Hulu is almost impossible to watch and crashes the system and i have to unplug the TV to get it reboot. And it keeps saying its out of hard drive space and have to delete the cash. I got so fed up with it I turn off the internet to that TV and bought a 50 dollar 4k Roku stick now it work perfectly.

Based on my experience in google tv you need to watch more than 15 sec ads on youtube..... Android tv you can skip youtube ads around 5 sec.
