I don't believe Google Workspace is available at all on the Personal plan, but yes the Squarespace "fine print" says: "If you sign up for the business plan and register or connect a domain, you'll receive 1 professional Gmail and Google Workspace account, free for the first year."

So I subscribed for a Squarespace business account which does include one email domain with Google Workspace, but it is only if you select the Google Workspace Starter plan option for it to be free. I needed a Google Workspace Business Standard plan so the free email domain doesn't apply here. Thank you great tutorial!

Thank you! I reached out to 50 new leads and realized a day later I was only able to send emails not receive. Adding the Google Workspace MX immediately fixed my problem! I tend to throw out the instructions and figure it out myself but this time it bit me in the but haha.

Do I need a brand personalized email domain name to prevent my emails from marketing going to spam folders in gmail yahoo, etc? If so do I set that up in squarespace or somewhere else?

It's definitely recommended to have something other than a @gmail or whatever to send marketing emails. This video will show you exactly how to set up that branded email through Squarespace.

@designingtherowvideos I purchased my domain through SquareSpace. In the video you say we then need to have our domain connected to the SS website. Do I still need to connect it? I assume it's already connected?

You should be good - if you go to Settings > Domains and see it listed there, you're all set!

Yes, you'll need your domain name connected to Squarespace before you can create the email address. And yes, you can transfer from Squarespace straight to Google to keep your email account active 🙂

@@marianstangbyI've never tried this - but if you go to admin.google.com there is an option to add users there (not having to go through Squarespace). See if it lets you do that? Otherwise: support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/206542007-Canceling-your-Google-Workspace-account

Thanks for this video. I just set up a Google Workspace via the google method without realizing I could have streamlined it into squarespace. Can I just cancel my google workspace subscription and start over and set it up in square space?

I don't see why not, but unless the price is different, the only thing that would change would be who bills you.

thats not the only thing it changes. it becomes much more difficult to pair squarespace with google workspace if you have a workspace before you go through squarespace@@DesigningtheRowVideos

I am trying to connect the workspace domain with Squarespace calendar as well as transfer it as owner on the website, but when I tried it said you cannot invite that email as a collaborator because it already exists in the website. I just want my business email and the ones from the marketing service to be connected with the new email not the one I used to open the website in the first place. Any help?

Interesting! Can you "edit" your existing collaborator credentials to switch the email instead of adding new? If that doesn't do it, I'd suggest reaching out to Squarespace's chat support - they're always extremely helpful!

@@DesigningtheRowVideos i managed to connect the scheduling with the domain email, its just that know i get notification on both emails the old one and this one. It is strange I did not find a video that teaches how to connect the new email domain with the website, since it was primarily registered with another email. There are only videos on how to activate it. Though it would be a nice idea for a video. Thank you for your response

Thanks for this video! I am definitely still stuck though. GoDaddy is where I bought my domain name and I connected it to my Squarespace account...but neither show MX records. My GoDaddy account says "We can't display your DNS information because your nameservers aren't managed by us." Do you have any guidance here?

You'll have to go wherever your nameservers are managed. It sounds like it's been rerouted at some point in the past.

Hello, thanks for the video. I have a gmail account and a squarespace site. When I receive booking requests via a contact form they appear in my Gmail inbox, but when I reply I'm getting reports from multiple clients that they either never receive it or it goes to their spam folder. I've surmised that it has something to do with setting up "proper" DNS servers in Gmail, but nowhere seems to explain how to do that. Have you encountered this issue? Thank you for your time.

Hey Justin, the 5 DNS settings you'll need are in the description of the video (and at 4:05 I go through where to put each part of the records)... double check you have those, and then if that still doesn't help, maybe check directly with Squarespace support about this issue.

If you have a Gmail account, you're going to need those settings! Gmail, GSuite, Google Workspace... same thing!

Where are you being asked to verify? Where is your domain hosted? If you need to put something in a TTL field, try 3600

hello! thanks so much for your videos, they've been extremely helpful! i was struggling with this specific issue alot. But sadly I still am! i followed all these instructions and it seemed to work, but an hour later i got a message that said the registration had failed and when i went back into my website to try again it just gives me a TRY AGAIN button option attached to the message which is in red and it automatically fails after being pushed.. Any advice?!

You rock! I am new at all of this and trying to research for my boss. He told me he would like to disconnect his Google workspace from square space. However, he wants to keep his access to square space, which is where he has his domain name from and he would like to keep his Google workspace as well. Does he just need to put a different email in his account settings to log into square space or will he have other troubles?

I recently cancelled a Squarespace website subscription (so website isn't live) but kept the domain name and Workspace active through Sqsp... and all still seems to be working just fine on the email side haha

Strangely, these settings look nothing like mine, I can't find the DNS settings under my domain in Squarespace and I think I created an even bigger problem that I oringally had when I deleted my email address all together. It look like I'll be searching for more video tutorials from now until the end of time !

They have been changing the backend a lot lately - when you click into your domain (in Squarespace) there's now an "Edit DNS" option that will show you DNS settings.

You'd probably have to cancel your existing account and create a new one through Squarespace. Might be a question for Squarespace Support.

I had to do the same! In your email settings go to Accounts and edit the "Send mail as" info to your name.

You can get 1 year free of the email when you first sign up... but to set it up directly through Squarespace, no there's no free workaround. You could set up just ONE email and create aliases for it, but not sure if that's what you're after.

Emails are billed separately. When you're a new customer though, you get one year free of one email address and one domain.
