Building Progressive Web Apps with Polymer (Chrome Dev Summit 2015)

With the combination of Web Components and Service worker, web developers have incredibly powerful and fundamentally new tools to build applications. We’ll explain how we on the Polymer team see these two technologies creating a whole new paradigm for building applications on the web, and how Polymer can help make it easier to build this brand-new breed of web application.
Rob Dodson is a developer advocate at Google where he focuses on Polymer and Web Components. In previous roles he’s helped craft design systems for massive enterprise companies, user interfaces for console titles, and even built the occasional enchanted princess game. These days his mission is to fight for a better web and to help developers build great experiences.

I started my app using polymer starter kit and I would like the chrome toolbar to go away on mobile phone similar to app-layout. What changes should I make to starter kit?

Is there any resource available regarding how to get that Splash screen when web app is launched from home screen ? (especially when site is not built using Polymer). P.S. I'm using Jekyll with Github Pages for my blog.

Hi Rob. Is there any "how-to" to make notifications working? In your code at github notification-data json is referenced to an heroku app. How does this app work? Thanks a lot.

+Rob Dodson Ok. so there are to progressive web apps: The first one in Google Cloud that manages the shell and data and the second one on heroku that manages the push notifications. Right?

Without this working on iOS it's as good as not bothering. Saying that if you're willing to put a bit of time in you can use app cache manifest for offline ability - but still no push I'm afraid
