The composer of this song is Manouchehr Cheshmazar, one of the legends who composed many of the most beautiful musics for alot of artists. But this song is from 1977. I just found a version of it from 1973 as a song called Heaven on their minds soundtrack /Jesus Christ Superstar!....I guess Mr.Cheshmazar made an Iranian version of it! Googoosh forever!

I've been following your reaction to "all things Persian," for a while. Thank you for your openness to a language and culture so different from yours. In the end, It says more about you than about anything Persian. And maybe the differences aren't that great, after all. You commented about the word, "Rangarang," appearing in other videos, as well. Rangarang (meaning many-colored) was the name of a radio/tv variety show in Iran in the early 1970s. The videos with the name in the title, might have been broadcast on that program. Also, you once wondered if we hear Farsi or Persian the way you do. I have to say, I believe so. The language sounds just as beautiful and lyrical to our ears as it does to yours. The fact that most of our literary history has been expressed in poetry and not prose, shows our appreciation for the musicality of the language, the placement of words, rhyme schemes and so forth. Thanks again for this forum.

Hi Mace. Hope this information helps. The music in this song is the adaptation of music in Dariush Eghbali's song "Sal -e- Dohezar" or Year 2000. Not sure if you've reacted to it, but if you have then that's why it sounds familiar to you. Having said that, Dariush himself adapted that musical tune from an unknown western group all those decades ago. I actually did find the original band playing that style of tune, but unfortunately it was so long ago that I cannot now help you find it; but it is out there in space somewhere!
