Pocahontas was my first film. My father brought the VHS from a trip when I was 3. The post-credits scene with Daniela Mercury and John Secada singing If I never knew you is so iconic! Brilliant as always, Nick!

Many people don't know that this is my favorite Disney love song, ever. I am an introvert who didn't make her first friends, her first real lasting relationships, until she got to college (and somewhat in high school). To this day, I live in fear that if I don't keep my friends happy, they will leave me, that one fight means the end of a relationship... but I am grateful for all of the memorable experiences I have with people. This song doesn't just encapsulate "love never meant to be"; it can also be saying goodbye to a friend, to an old life, as you start a new phase or are affirming a current one. I never thought I'd see this song covered on this channel. Now I have, and it is lovely.
