Haven't had this one yet, I've got 5 of them in the pantry, hope it's good. I'm glad it's not forward with the coconut. Need to hit this one next weekend. Thanks for the reviews :)

~~~ Nailed it! ---- As someone who brings Brownie Bites and Macaroons to a beer tasting, I hardily agree. Tad more coconut please. More viscous than the base, by quite a bit for me. Good not great. Nice review. CHEERS !!!
Haven't acquired or tried any of this year's yet. Thankfully Goose Island doesn't use artificial flavors in their stouts like some do
For this year I’ve had OG, Vanilla, and Macaroon so far. Macaroon is the clear winner for me. Only other one I was able to get is Bardstown. Might drink that one Christmas week
It was “fine”. This year’s releases were underwhelming. I’m hoping next year is huge with it being the 20th anniversary from what I hear.
I’m wondering if they did so few variants this year because they have several reserves that age for 2 years, which will be ready for the 2025 release
I really like this idea and hope that it is true. We shall see...
Don’t age the macaroon. Coconut will be very faded.
I am also worried about the coconut fading.
Great review. The ginger in the description was off-putting, but I found it for $20 so I decided why not. I’ll probably crack this one around Christmas assuming the coconut will not age well. Are you going to review the barleywine?
I am curious to hear your thoughts...and jealous of that price! Just posted the barleywine, in case you missed it. Cheers!
$21.99 in Kansas. I found this very unimpressive. Almost drinks like a beefed up milk stout, didnt get a hint of tbe barrel. A bit too sweet. Look forward to the Vanilla rye stout next. Hopefully better
I am just at a loss overall with the releases this year, except the Bardstown, which is amazing...and of course hard to get and expensive.
I agree with you the Macaroon was the best this year between base and Vanilla. But overall none are worth any hype. However, the big picture is that BCS is quickly declining and I don’t think there is the passion at Goose Island to make a stellar beer anymore…ie, natural flavoring. The fact that I also see BCS sitting on the shelves throughout the year prove that most people have moved on. Very sad… the glory days of craft beer are behind us.
Right?! This seems like a huge step down for sure. So sad to see.
@ final thought… seems like this started in the infection year in 2015. Perhaps the potential loss in revenue outweighed the risk taken to do something special. Let’s face it, InBev isn’t going to take any risks like that again. I’d love to chalk it up to large corporate owners who want to focus on maximizing revenues, aka… playing it safe over doing something “special”. Look at Dogfish Head… a company that was never afraid to take huge risks who, in turn, produced some of the (arguably) best and most interesting avant guard beers ever produced. Yet, how many risks did they take after Sam Adams acquired them? None. I’m still looking for more breweries who aren’t afraid to try… but they’re hard to find now. If you find any, please review them! I’ll give them my money.
