yeah I picked up on that cakey note too. Reminds me of a black forest cake. Very fruity this year. Couldn't believe it was so smooth and drinkable for 14.7%. That must be one of the highest ABV they've ever done.

It's for sure on the higher end. I believe 2012 was just as high. And yeah, the drinkability for ABV is insane. Wine does that too...

I made a post in the BeerAdvocate BCBS thread: “I posted previously in this thread I had three versions of 2024 BCBS at an event last Wednesday at a local craft beer bar and my favorite was the 'regular' BCBS. Below is a video review by Darwin of the 2024 BCBS. He made an intriguing observation that this year's version tasted like it was already aged for a year (or two). love me some bourbon county brand stout! this year the distribution seemed a lot less, was not even possible to pick up a case as usually it is very easy. got one of each of the non-chicago available variants and two of the base beer. didn't try yet, will let em sit for a bit :P

~~~ Sometimes HOT out of the bottle fresh, this years is smooth but not viscous compared to years past. The Macaroon is really viscous in comparison. Nice review. CHEERS !!

It is a blended beer from many barrels. I've definitely have vintage variation.

agreed. this year’s seems more balanced on day one, as if it’s been aged a year or two for us. it’s tasty as always, but i do like the big dark chocolate i got from last year’s better. tho, my palate may be a little more acclimated to a bba stout atm, since i had a 2023 big bad baptist brew master’s keep on thanksgiving night, which might be why this year’s bcbs seems a little more tame.
