The yurt is awesome. What a great birthday treat.

We were there about 6 weeks ago in our trailer. We didn't go to the yurts to check them out. Looks awesome. The trails on Gooseberry Mesa are hiking and biking but we as hikers stood to the side a lot for bikers. It was still awesome for a hiking person. Happy Birthday!

Thanks for sharing. That does look awesome! I enjoyed staying in a yurt last new years at Nordic Village near Flagstaff, but those just had stove ,wood, paper towels table chairs, and sleep mats. Happy birthday. Enjoy. Oh yeah, I think it dipped below 20 while we were there. Our yurt was much smaller but the stove kept it very very cozy. We actually had to open window flaps, and the door occasionally......sweet

This is a great overview. I'm laughing because it's clear that you guys aren't local at all or else you'd pronounce it "ZI-un" (not ZI-on) and "hurcan" (not "hurricane). Glad you enjoyed your stay in redrock country.

I just went to a yurt up in Idaho which was not to far for me since I live in Utah. It was absolutely amazing! Yurts are definitely underestimated. It was so amazing to snowshoe up to the yurt with a sled with some things in it. It was a struggle getting the sled up the hill with about 500 feet of elevation gain. The yurts belong to Galena Lodge near Ketchum Idaho. It was an unforgettable experience, it was so cozy and comfy. The Gooseberry Mesa yurts look a little bit more modern and relevant then the ones in Galena Lodge. It was so fun to backpack to the yurt and stay the night, the fire was a life saver since it was almost 19 degrees at night but it kept us warm until about 2 am, then I had to get out the hand warmers. It was around $200 dollars to stay there but it was so much fun and money well spent. I would love to check out these yurts they look amazing!

Happy Birthday! Just an FYI, Hurricane is actually pronounced Her-ah-kun(think silent e). I used to live in the area and we could always tell who was from out of town by how they pronounced the town. :D

I am local to Utah and often visit St. George and those areas and I always pronounce it Hurrican

From Hurricane, it's about 60 miles of easy range road to Mt. TRUMBULL and Toroweep. You could even go the other way down into Springdale. My favorite country!

Great vid. Planning to mtn bike there next spring and this is a great option. How is the road going to the yurts? Conflicting info about coming from the south.
@JerryArizona3 жыл бұрын
I show the roads in the vid. It's later on. (Not sure the exact time stamp.) They're fine from the south for any vehicle. If you take the road to Rockville, you need a 4WD.

Well, usually we just backpack, so this was a luxury accommodation in comparison.
