@@SebHaarfagre I know, please remember the Empire fought for the British, Im sure you will not have neglected the film Battle of Britain, at the end of the film it lists all the Empires pilots who fought. No offence but there were a LOT more pilots than the Polish and Norwegians, and again if the Polish pilots who were veterans from fighting the German Pilots had shared there Knowledge instead of selfishly keeping it to themselves, the allied losses would have been much lower. Also remember the US went in as a mercenary army and if it hadnt been for a win in September of that year for Britain you would now be a confirmed ess ess. The US would have been a note in history.

People have left christianity behind and this is the result. The people who fought in ww2 and indeed the Irish war of independence had very strong principles that led them to beat seemingly insurmountable odds. We on the other hand have very few principles and I doubt if it came to a fight we'd have the appropriate to see it through.

You want goosebumps, I was volunteering at a local nature reserve, when the local Spitfire flew over and started to wheel and roll acrobatically overhead. We were loading hay with pitch forks into a trailer, everyone stopped and looked skyward as I imagine would have been the case if the wheeling and rolling was part of a dogfight. The scene was about as close to going back in time as I could imagine. The back story is we were transporting the hay from a wild flower meadow as seed stock for re wilding a new meadow, hence the open hay and pitchforks instead of baling it. Great video, really brings them alive.

In 1941 my grandfather was posted to RAF St Eval as an MP. My grandmother and father moved from Plymouth to a small village nearby soon after. My father recalled a sunny afternoon when he was walking home with my grandfather along a country lane when they saw a spitfire do a victory roll above the fields. My grandfather, not having much of a sense of occasion was recalled as saying something along the lines of "He'll get in trouble for that".

@@bobsurgranny I was going to Richmond with my dad to pick up his new car at the Subaru garage and we stopped off at the petrol station to get some fuel. I was about 14 years old and out of no where 2 Spitfires and a mustang buzzed the station, no one heard them coming they came from the back of the garage over the top at about 100 to 120 feet up full pelt and the mighty noise of those engines you could feel the concussive sound from the RR Merlin engines in your chest. That was my first foray with the Spitfire after that I was hooked. If I knew they were going to be around the area I’d make an effort to go watch them because hearing them in person is worth it as videos do not do it justice. I seen a P51 Voodoo at even lower and faster in the USA you can see the video of the same bird and it’s crazy how loud they are with a higher pressure supercharger in the engine. Awesome power such a thoroughbred engine RR made.
