I’ve been saying this for years. A Christian can wake up tomorrow, albeit unlikely, and change their religion to Islam or Judaism or et al. A gay person cannot wake up tomorrow and become straight, a black person cannot wake up tomorrow and be white, an old person….. well….. you get the point. Sadly, too many bigots in America, do not.

CITIZENS UNITED you say? Look into Jim/James Bopp. That guy IS the Conservative lawyer that actually got SCOTUS to rule in his favor and give him the win of CITIZENS UNITED to begin with. Bopp is also responsible for lending his services to help Trump in overturning the 2020 election AND also went after the LGBTQIA community with legislation that prevented same-sex marriage to be legalized. Bopp was quoted to say that the general public didn't need to know where campaign financing came from and they really shouldn't need to know either.

I just argued with 3 people on a comment thread from a story last week until this morning when they deleted it. Turns out 1 thought they were correct in being a righteous bigot, 1 didn't understand why I mentioned Jesus saving Mary from an angry mob because they clearly never heard that story before, and a 3rd came along and said he didn't want to judge or change anyone just "criticize them until they change". All 3 claimed to be devout Christians, all 3 bragged about being bigots for God.

@@SinkrSwim it's sad because we are all taught , religion had all the answers and all we had to do was "follow" the teachings ....& as we got older , for at least some of us , we slowly came to the realization that it was all horse manure and we had been lied to , and yet there where people older than us who , didn't learn that , and that confused and angered us , and as time wore on you figured it that out , they are in a cult , a real freakin cult & that frightened us but then angered us greatly but then with time and slow realization we came to the conclusion that we can't fight it , and that made us sad again and resigned to fate , at least for some of us . I try to inform , but it's hard when they willing can not listen to anything other than what the cult demands them to hear & believe.

It's always frustraiting to hear someone imply or directly state that gay existance and telling young queer kids they don't need to hate themselves is akin to "a threat to children" when they support weakening child labor laws and leagalizing child marriage. These are the same folks who often align marriage and the act of sex, but somehow think a marriage with a 14 year old girl is somehow not child endangerment and molestation.

The gay/ lesbian/bi movement and trans movement are lumped together but are two very different matters. The first is sexual preference, while the second is one of identity often involving massive amounts if bodily mutilation. Like many, I have varied and opposing ideas about both.

incite - verb - to encourage or stir up (violent or unlawful behavior); to urge or persuade (someone) to act in a violent or unlawful way. It comes from the Latin incitare, "to rouse." Just how would you incite without words? Are you saying that hate crimes are never incited, they just fall out of the sky? People who commit hate crimes are just born with it?
