@RobertJarecki surgeon had no choice as I had been waiting 5 years for 1 hip replacement. Xrays showed if he did one hip the other one would not support me hence why surgeon obligated to do both. Being Canadian surgery plus 2.5 weeks in hospital cost me 0. Had 30 days free shower bath seat, bed rail. My walkers were in majority paid by my province. My cost for 2 different types of walkers which were mandatory cost me about 200.00 but the 200.00 I was able to claim it on my income tax getting a small tax credit.

I didn't want the cataract surgery as long as corrective lenses were working well (my cousin is an ophthalmologist surgeon and, even with all the advances in the area, advises against eye surgery if lenses can correct the vision). But, my ophthalmologist was going to retire and, as I had been seeing her for years, I felt much more comfortable with her as the surgeon. I didn't have any out of pocket expenses but did take the neighbor who transported me to a very nice lunch. I assume that, like my waiting to have my surgery, your wait was your decision.
