Important to note for Avata owners: you will wear out your motors much faster lugging a GoPro around. I hovered with a GoPro installed for a few seconds and the motors were already boiling hot, probably not the best idea as it could overwork the ESCs as well.

Excellent comparison! The vertical shooting mode is something I don't see mentioned enough, especially now that clients request deliverables in both horizontal and vertical.

But with the ultra wide setting, you can't stabilize the avata footage in gyroflow, and thats the big advantage for the gopro

What a great video, my brother! Just subscribed! I´ve lost my Avata (doing some acro over the ocean at hard wind, the motor or flight controller overheated), but i just bought another one yesterday. I just loved the drone. I was about to buy a Cinebot 30 wit O3, but Avata has so many great features...as Adjust camera remotely, GPS etc

While after that firmware update, I am almost preferring the DJI. Image quality. Or at least it's close enough that it's not worth fiddling with gopro and gopro software and gopro batteries. I'd love to see an insta 360X3 on top.

you still see a massive bonus in the GoPro footage as it doesn't burn the highlights so fast as the dji. thinking of flying in a sunset where this come quiet handy..
@flyah Жыл бұрын
its a really good comparison, but the difference between highlights and shadows in gopro its really greater than avata
@Sovereign_54 Жыл бұрын
I think this is the only real reason one would want to use a GoPro. The dynamic range, the GoPro definitely wins here, but the trade off's are biiig ones.

Awesome flying man, I couldn’t believe how great it actually flew with the big GoPro on 😮 I have the hero 11 but haven’t tried it on my avata but I did try flying it with a hero 5 in sport mode and it was really struggling I thought it was abit windy though. 😅 you my video made it look easy obviously you flew manually. Great video, mate! I have 2 questions. 1: Please share your controller settings 2: Have you changed smth in dorne setting before GoPro mounting? Nice comparison mate thanks, i think the worst part about sticking a gopro on top would be the change to the drones flight characteristics. I tried original dobo's duct guards and had to take them straight off after the first battery. Just dont think the avata handles the extra weight very well.

Great video! One of my biggest reasons for getting a gopro 11 for my DJI avata originally, was for the ability to record verticle video - but now seeing your footage of the ultra wide on the avata I might sell my gopro! I think there was a drawback to using the ultrawide FOV on the avata originally, either not being able to record the gyro data or something to use in gyroflow after?
@LukeMaximoBell1 Жыл бұрын
Yeh agreed that tall GoPro sensor was a big selling point. I was kind of shocked to see that the Avata gets the same vertical FOV and more FOV on the sides with stabilisation applied. The GoPro footage was run through reelsteady with an 8:7 output aspect ratio, so it would crop of course but you have to to get a usable image.
@LukeMaximoBell1 Жыл бұрын
Never tried Gyroflow, but rocksteady is definitely applied! And it’s smooth enough for me 🤷♂️

apples to oranges comparison there friend. doing onboard image stabalization reduces the sharpness. would have had to shoot with no image stabalization and then used gyroflow to stabalize the footage. reelsteady uses the gyro information stored from the footage just like gyroflow would have done for the avata footage. would love to see one where you use the respective software to compare the two

Great Video, thank you. May I ask why do you prefer 4K 30 fps vs 4K 60 fps, please? With 60 fps it is possible to do x2 slow mo after wards, but with 30 fps - none of that is possible
@2020videography Жыл бұрын
I imagine he prefers the motion blur on the 30fps, in 60 at normal speed you won’t get proper motion blur. It’s good for tiny clips here and there if you are doing a lot of timing changes but natural flying will look more cinematic and be better in 30.
@LukeMaximoBell1 Жыл бұрын
You are correct. If I were to shoot at 4K60, then I would still use 1/60th shutter speed. Then it’s identical to what I did here, but there is the chance to slow it down if I want to. The reason I don’t normally is because 95% of the time I don’t ever want to slow down my FPV. If I am shooting action sports or something fast moving then more FPS for sure!
