Hey RJ, question. What makes pick the KTM over the BMW and vice versa when you leave the house? I want a supernaked and I found a smoking deal on a '15 1290 R in black, just like yours. From the reviews and also what you said, it's just simply outstandingly comfortable which is very important to me as I'm 6'0 tall. I see you filter a lot, is it an easy bike to manoeuvre at low speed? It looks bulky but you handle it very well. Thanks!

The video quality isn't what GoPro changed, it's the feature upgrade and the fact the Hero 5 is waterproof without a special housing. If you already have a Hero 4 and you don't need the top new features (voice control, touch screen, and waterproof to 30 meters) then you probably shouldn't upgrade. There are several side-by-side comparisons already on KZbin that shows the quality and sharpness of the 4 and 5 are virtually the same.

Its actually water proof to only 10m (30feet) which is a massive downgrade for deep divers. But thats obviously a small niche.

Yeah, I noticed the typo after I posted but it doesn't make that much of a difference. A "downgrade"? I think not, since it's the first one to be waterproof to any depth. You can still buy a waterproof housing to take it deeper for divers. But like you say, it's a very small amount of the actual market that will be taking it below 30'....as long as mine can shoot in a rain storm I'm happy as pie!

I get your point but I havent seen anything about a housing for it, I tried searching and have not seen anything indicating a housing for it, And since its bulkier than the hero 4 I don't think it will fit in the old housing.. Thats why im saying when it comes to deep diving 10meters and that would be it. BUT if there is in fact a housing well I take back what I said.

1080p is 1080p and KZbin encoding will always be the weak link. 4k video still looks better when 1080p is selected than videos uploaded at 1080p. I would be interested in the side by side comparison.

Would really appreciate a side by side comparison, but right off the bat the image quality and more importantly image stabilization really smooths out the shot. I was already buying one, but this certainly reaffirms my beliefs that it's a must for motovloggers :) thanks RJ!

I'd say the main improvement with this camera is purely user convenience. Camera itself and quality seem to be identical to the Hero 4. Question is, is it worth upgrading just to eliminate the need for a case and a few other ergonomic improvements?

Would be interesting to see a test of the Sony X3000 from you. It has an interesting lens shifting technology that gives a very good stabilising effect. should also have a better sound too, but at high speeds no action camera is going to perform well

Have you tried recording at higher resolutions than 1080p? I have read that if you record at a higher resolution and let youtube compress it to 1080p it will look better than if you record at 1080p and let youtube compress it. Might be a pain if you have a slow pc though.

It's the added features they changed, not the video quality. GoPro made this very clear during their product launch event. I wish they had improved the quality as well, but it appears there wasn't much they could do and keep the price where it is. For my use, the simple fact that it's waterproof to 30meters without a bulky housing is enough to upgrade. When you add the fact it has voice control and a touch screen now......it's a no-brainer for me.

The real big difference is that the 5 black can do 4k30 fps and 1080p 120 fps. But that isnt meant for RJ because that take's up massive amounts of storage and 60fps into slomotion is enough for him. For that 5 second clip in every 10 video's RJ doesnt need super slomo.

Significantly more bouncy than your other recent videos.Even offroad on the South African series, the video is much more stable. Is that because this is the raw video with no post production, or is the image stabilisation not as good as the one you videoed the tour with? I saw some gimbals in fleabay and I was stunned by how costly they are. ..then I saw your video with the crazy lean angles and I realised why they cost so much!

Friend of mine was doing 50km/h when a car changed lanes in front of him by like 5 metres, he couldn't stop in time and went straight into and over the front of their car, he luckily landed in the middle of the road on a grassed medium strip that probably saved his life, i was riding with him at the time but i got held up at a set of lights and was about 3 cars back so i didn't see it but i heard it. Just lucky i wasn't behind him because my impact on top of his could have killed him, he was lucky that he was also riding a sports bike so he basically got launched off it, if it was a cruiser or touring bike he would of stayed on the bike and took the full impact force.

we come to the point where the quality is limited by youtube bitrate, is not the same to look at a 1080p footage, than a 1440p footage on a 1080p screen, the quality is just incredible, due to youtube giving more bandwith to those videos

Masterdome hes got a recorder in his pocket. I personally run a mic from the gopro (with a micro usb to a 3.5mm hp jack) which sits right up my jacket. Mine is easier to control and also no editing required however his set up is much simpler

If I can stick the mic adapter against my helmet (with velcro or some sort) I wouldn't really mind the adapter. However that is just personal preference. But maybe I'll buy the 4 black instead because it should drop down in price.

this Bike sounds really nice, sounds better than the Nuda and the Grom, the Grom does have a nice sound but not like this. I like that deep rumble and that quick little backfire it gives when shifting and slowing down.Well that's my opinion, The Nuda does sound amazing but this one, in my opinion, takes the cake
