Thanks for this. All the big tech youtubers just go through specs. I wanted to see the profiles compared and this just sold me. Thanks man

@@TG_Shreds May be you can tell me now, today I boyght the Hero black 9 and I just hear some sound ,when I rotate the camera... The box wasnt never open(looks like that) I don't know whats playing inside, hope it's gonna be normal.🙏😃

@@freeridetony interesting! The camera should be solid and doesn’t have any internal parts that should be rattling. The only thing that I can think of are the two foldable mounting tabs on the bottom of the camera. Try and mount the camera with the included thumb screw and see if the rattling is coming from those two little mounting tabs if that’s not the case you may want to reach out to GoPro support or just simply return your camera for a different one

I have the GoPro 10 & the Canon R5. I use "Flat" on the GoPro 10 & CLog 3 (Flat) on the Canon R5. Flat or CLog 3 are the best and I color grade my videos on Davinci Studio 18 by either using LUT's or just regular color grade.

Interesting analysis. When my computer still met the requirements for DaVinci, I used to shoot in flat and then use DaVinci's auto color capability, which produced a very neutral look and which saved time. After Davinci's upgrade to where I could not use it, I found Shotcut, which is simpler to use than Davinci, but does not have an auto color capability. The results from manually coloring my flat video doesn't quite give the satisfactory look from DaVinci's auto color. Will try the Hero 9's in camera color option to see how that looks. Thanks, Thomas, for the clip.

Useful info! I film and edit on the move mostly on mobile due to traveling so much, so advanced colour editing isn't something I take time to work with. I've always shot with flat after taking advice on best practices. I'm flipping back to GoPro colours now! Thanks for the advice. It'll be interesting to see the difference from vlog #27 to vlog#28

Go pro color has just too much contrast :( I prefer the flat and then edit

I would agree. I personally do not like how black the blacks get when using GoPro Color.

Pause at 2:11 and look at the bushes at the top of the stairs... this is why GoPro color is worse, although I do use it just because I can't be bothered messing about editing the footage and with it on flat, everything looks anemic. What it needs is a go-between setting, but there isn't one, you can either have it anemic, or with too much color. It's a shame this GoPro color profile boosts the contrast so much, instead of just boosting the saturation like it does and the contrast a little, or better yet, give us all these settings on the camera with steps from 1 to 4 or something! It's the GoPro contrast boost that's taking out all the details in the shadows like on the bushes I mentioned - it's just black there when in reality you'd be able to see what the flat profile sees.

Completely Agree! With the new Hero10 there are some new settings that I would like to review and create a video for. I think the 'color' setting that is depicted in this video is a bit too bold for my general purpose liking.
@joeswanderings Жыл бұрын
I find the standard Go Pro colour has much higher contrast than flat, Sure it makes the image pop, but can sometimes lose some details in high and lowlights too. Usually adjusting to about 110% colour intensity from the flat profile suits me, but your mileage may vary. Depends on you perceive as "natural" colour.

Flat profile is good if you want to try and match the GoPro footage to another camera.

I assume gopro still shoots in 8 bit? Surprised no one mentioned this in the comments. Looking forward to when gopro shoots 10 bit which can't be far off now..2022.
@TG_Shreds2 жыл бұрын
Yes I believe the Hero10 is still 8bit color depth, I was able to confirm 8bit for the Hero9, but Hero10 has GP2 which may come with upside. I am not seeing anything marketing wise from GoPro about this so I would assume the Hero10 is still 8bit

I can never get the footage to look any good in flat for some reason, my phone looks way better than the gopro yet so many out there get some good results.

Go pro color is good right and for indoor flat is better??
@TG_Shreds3 жыл бұрын
It’s not a matter of what setting is better for indoor or outdoor, it’s more of a preference if you want your footage to be vibrant and colorful straight out of the camera (use GoPro Color) or if you’re looking to edit the image further with more flexibility then use Flat
@timyassa43433 жыл бұрын
everyone hates gopro color tbh i kinda prefer it over flat

It’s the great debate… some think it’s super simple to shoot and post, but others want more control and flexibility in post … what do you use to edit??
