I also got this new model of el grande. Was SO disappointed to find out that they removed the tripod thread at the bottom which was part of the older model. The older model also included a lanyard! I guess they want you to buy the max pole instead? I’m going to try to return it.

Yeah I feel like they could have at least included a lanyard. As for the max pole, I don't think it extends quite as far as the El Grande, but yeah it had the tripod

It’s called a “quick-release”. And yes, the El Grande IS metal. Aircraft-grade aluminum, to be exact, which will not rust. You WILL have to rinse it off with fresh water after using it in salt water or it will corrode over time. And don’t forget to dry it off after rinsing. I can’t quite get over you continuously calling it a “selfie stick”. Yes, it’s a selfie stick but that is just one of many uses for this product. I scuba dive, and use the extension pole to let the camera get close to marine life without me having to get close and possibly spooking them (or moray eels without me risking getting bitten). I also use it when I want the camera up high or down low for a particular shot.

So this works well for scuba diving? I've been trying to find a review where someone actually used it for scuba diving because I want to use it for the exact reasons you mentioned. I've had a cheap Amazon stick that did not work well when I got to any sort of depth, so I'm hoping this one would do the job.

Just got one! Upon first inspection it feels really solid, the locking in place feature is really nice because in the past I got a cheaper one that wasn't gopro branded and it kept collapsing by itself in the water which was really annoying! Also on the cheaper one the gopro didn't fight tight so the camera moved around too. I love how sturdy this one feels and going to take it to the water this weekend! Looking forward to it, glad it's made from aluminum too which means it won't rust. I got it with the gopro subscription along with a mini tripod, total price was 70$ for both and shipping which isn't too bad at all. Thanks for the review! Happy filming!

Just to reflect what others are saying, it's made from aluminium, you can get 50% off on the GoPro website with their subscription which I pay annually for $70 which is definitely worth it given that the average GoPro user buys quite a lot of accessories and you also get the unlimited cloud storage so you don't need to keep everything on your computer or SD card

Same thing happened to me but after a year it went to the recycling trash 🗑 but I got the el grande for my GoPro 10, those cube GoPros are the best I Heard- somewhere that GoPro might come out with a newer cube style.

Thanks for the vid! I just subscribed to GoPro ($50 per year but you save $100 on the new Hero 9) and got it for $30. Most accessories are quite cheap when you have the subscription.

Hey no problem! I hope the video helped. Unfortunately it doesn't look like the bottom hole can be screwed onto anything. I tried screwing it onto a tripod, but it looks like the hole is too small and there doesn't seem to be any threading on the inside of the hole. I'm guessing the hole is just there for water drainage

Someone ended up giving me a lanyard, so I have one now. You can buy them separately, if you search for camera lanyard or selfie stick lanyard, they will come up
